No Indian cricketer is consistent!

Well I was just thinking about all of Indias performances in the past 1 year and found I couldnt think of any player who has been consistent. Almost every player has had a few good games, flashes of brilliance but most have had fairly long periods of poor runs and injuries. This contrasts with some of the top guns in Australia etc. I agree that every player has some dull patches, but for everyone to be so inconsistent is probably the reason India are struggling to keep a constant team and all the bickerings. What do you think?

We should not expect a player to score a century in each and every game. rather than having a consistent player we should look for a consistent team performance. if one player fails other should take the responsibility. that would make a better team. rather than having one consistent player we should build a consistent team.

I agree - buit even as a team we have been inconsistent very often. We have crashed out, failed in fielding etc. Our bowling has been a little tight however!

Consistency is the key in any game.I think only player who was consistent in the past 6 month is Dhoni. He played 18 games up to 19 /2/2008.His average is 48 as captain which is better than his carrier average 44.But his strike rate decreased from 96 to 8 as captain.

Yes - consistency is key. Dhoni has been having some good scores. he scores slower but that has been important especially as he has taken India home many times!

It is quite easy to make comments on things i feel, but its pretty hard to make it out..Same is the case with cricket.India is a strong team, but never consistent..but ,if we take any other country except Australia,we cant find a single team which has been consistent through out even an year. India has got a strong batting line up and it is obvious that every one will expect India to win every match with the batting side, even if they fail pathetically in bowling. But we can easily say that it is very difficult for the Indian team to keep up their stamina, consistency and hard work..if the openers fail every other team member has a tendency to get under pressure and the result every time will be the same. I think there is no other way out than constant and consistent practice and hard work. The Australians are the perfect example for the situation and they have dominated the cricket for the last 5 to 10 years. But they can also be beaten by strong oppositions like India or South Africa. The only thing is ,the team should be ,not the team every member of the team should be hard working.

hello pitstop...!!I have observed the same about indian players...many players like irfan pathan, sehwag had sound beginning to their careers.....but the problem is their consistancy... If we take example of agarker, he has very much talent with bat and bowl, and by now he should have become the top all rounder in the world, but he slipped to bottom from the tp of the hill... if we look at foreign players like jacob oram, mccullum etc...were the average players at one time but now they have improved a lot... australia has strong domestic structure there fore their performances will be consistant, more over the australian players ,their cricket board work fully proffesional, the president of CA will not be in any other dual role, which u donot expect with BCCI president..... but indian domestic structure will improve a lot in the seasons to come due to the impact of IPL and ICL..

The IPL and ICl are so commercialised that the main motive seems to be money! I also do hope it improves talent, but I doubt it!
