Ever had a root canal?

I have to have one done this thurday& I'm kinda freakin out. I've never had one before!!! Is it going to hurt? Are they going to stick me with a needle? What the hell?!?!?! I'm really nervous about it. And I jsut had my wisdom teeth pulled a week ago and that wasn't bad, but they put me out for it. Ihave to stay awake for the RC. Anyone got any advice or soothing words???? THANKS!!!

I've had 3 root canals, two of which were on the same tooth. They aren't much worse than getting a cavity filled. Just more work is involved. Can you get a mild sedative to calm your nerves, and get someone to take you there and then back home? That might help.

I dont think ive done a root canal...or have i..hmm
but they have taken my wizdom tooths out..and yes it hurts when they poke that big a** needle in ur mouth..thats pretty much the scary part...but even if u stick that needle in ur mouth u still feel them pullin ur tooth out...which sucks!but ull be fine!!!Good Luck!

I have had one many years ago. It just hurts to keep your mouth open for that long! Sometimes they can do it in 2 sessions but it would be nice to just get it over with! Good luck, ask for some nitris, it will help calm your nerves but won't put you out!

I had one...it isn't any fun either...I can't believe they charge you so much for all the pain!

My sis had gone for this treatment, It might give u pain for few seconds. Not to worry

The needle kinds of stings but thats about it. After you are numb all you feel is pressure, which doesn't hurt at all. Just close your eyes and stay as relaxed as possible. (I know, it's easier said than done). I actually think that fillings are worse.

Root canals are very overrated. They don't hurt nearly as bad as people say that they do. The worst part is having to listen to the sound of your roots being grinded and having to smell that. After the novacaine, you won't feel a thing.

I have had two. Just make sure to tell them if you can feel ANYTHING so they can numb you further. It is not too bad once you are numbed, it is a little weird to have your mouth held open, but mostly just boring and frustrating when they try to speak to you.

hey u really need not worry.ur tooth will b anaesthetized.so u wont feel a thing.it will take sum time.but it will b pretty much painless.so dont worry n go ahead or elase it cause u much more trouble.:-)

They will numb the crap out of your mouth and if you still feel something then tell them they need to numb you more. You will get a needle in your gums in order to numb you. Once you are numb you will be fine cause you won't feel anything. Just shut your eyes and relax. I promise you will be fine. If you aren't I give you permission to come and kick my butt :-)

I haven't had a root canal but I've had work done that was close to a nerve and it was uncomfortable even after several shots. I hope everything works out for you and it's not too painful.
