What is your view of the death pentalty?

I started a discussion regarding our right to bear arms and got a lot of great responses. I would like to know what all think about the death penalty. I would like to know what people from other countries think of the death penalty. I would like to know what people from other countries who have the death penalty think of it. I would like to know how long a person is on death row in other countries. In California USA a person who commits First-degree murder with special circumstances automatically gets the death sentence. Premeditated murder is classified as First-degree murder and special circumstances can be using a gun or other ways of murder. We have over crowed prisons here in the USA and we need to do something about this. I have done research on the death penalty and I know it costs more to put someone on death row then keep them in prison for their life. I also know that with all the appeals a person on death row gest it is an average of 20 years before the prisoner is finally put to death. My research is 5 years old so some of it may have changed since I have written my papers on the subject. I feel if we would not let these people stay on death row for so long and execute them in a timely manner it will detour some of the crimes in the USA. I do not want to put to death innocent people but with the new way they collect evidence it helps keep innocent people off of death row. What is your opinion to my questions?
