They are calling for snow here in Maryland today?

I guess I am a kid at heart, and get excited when the call for snow. Unfortunately, we get chipped out of a lot of snow each year, depending on the jet stream.
So my question is do you get your hopes up when they are calling for snow? Are you let down when it doesn't pan out the way the weather people say it is?
We are "expecting" 1 to 2 inches of snow this afternoon. I sure hope we are going to get some. Here in Maryland it will snow one day and then melt away in a day or two.
I just want a good old fashion snowstorm that would let the white stuff pile up so we can enjoy it for at least thre days.

you must be really glad that its going to snow in maryland. Well, I live in Alaska and we have snow evreyday. And when it rains the water on the ground freezes. So after a while the whole are is like a ice skating ring. lol....I fell a few times, very painful experience.

Hey, how appropriate is this?!? As soon as I submitted my above comment, MSNBC came on showing Washington DC saying "It's snowing at the White House!" and showing pictures of a great snowfall there.
You're right in there, Kimbers, good luck with your snow wishes!! :)

I don't think I would want snow everyday. I like having the change of seasons. Have you lived in Alaska all your life?

Allatti2d, we got chipped out that snowstorm and then we were suppose to have one on Friday. It was about a 1/2 inch of snow then freezing rain, and then in the afternoon it warmed up and everything melted. The news people had it so hyped that it was going to be a significant storm. I was so bummed.
Plus the sad thing was that they cancelled school, again. The reason is, I finally was told this by a principal, is that the Board of Educations are so worried that they are going to be sued if a bus as an accident that they would rather not take that chance and they just cancel school. So the kids have missed three days because of snow (actually freezing rain) this year.
I can remember going to school (walking in high school and riding the bus in middle school) when it snowed.
We flew to Anaheim back in the beginning of November and I remember flying over the Rocky Mountains. What a beautiful site with all the snow on the mountains. The Coors commercials don't do the mountains justice.

I love an old fashioned snow storm but here in Pa we don't seem to be getting them either. We have had a ton of rain here this winter though. I want snow. LOL. I have a kitchen that has 16 ft of windows across the back and 2 8 ft windows on each side and a wood stove. There is nothing better then sitting there watching it snow with a good cup of tea. I have come to realize our weather is changing.

You are so right about our weather changing.
I told Bob I want to move to Wisconsin or Minnesota instead of South Carolina, he told me "see ya".
I remember sitting at my grandmother's house when I was younger and looking out her picture windows watching it snow. She lived on a hill, on a farm, and it was the most beautiful situation in the world.

Living in Lousiana, we always get chipped out of snow! When they say possible snow, I pray and pray and it doen't come. lol I prayed so hard in 2004, we actually had our first white Christmas here. lol Lousiana has NEVER had a white christmas (snowed before or after, but never on christmas day) and I was so happy, my aunt was missing my uncle and she talked a lot about snow, so I really wanted it to snow for her. I guess my uncle heard me :)

Thanks for sharing, that was so cool.
Well we got chipped out of that snowstorm. Plus the one yesterday. I really am beginning to hate the jet stream. LOL

Kim, you know y ou could of always come over when we got that BIG snow... you know days of snow!!! lol
when we were at state some of the schools east of us were talking.. they had a week of snow days!!! so they were going to have to make that week up... they put in a request to the state to drop those days...
They are so lucky... they only have to make one day up now...
We only have one day to make up also!
Have fun in the Sun... snow*

LOL Yvonne.
We have three days to make up, which is sad because our school still doesn't have AC, we will in two years.
The only time the State Superindent lets the schools slide is if there is a state of emergency called.
Our local board of ed did build in some snow days, during the Easter Break, but they never take them away unless we have lots of days to make up.

Two storms, both were busts. The last one, last Friday, turned to rain - it was so sad.
I'm not listening to the weather people anymore.

At least they are just calling for snow. We have had 2 ice storms in the past 2 weeks. It's awful. My road is like an ice skating rink. I got stuck this evening coming home. I had to get myself unstuck and then try it again. I made it the second time though.

Supposedly the storm we were suppose to have yesterday was suppose to bring a lot of ice but the temps got too high.
Our last bad ice storm was in 1996, I will never forget it. My husband was trying to get his work truck around his car and he nudged the front bumper and he watched his car go down our hill backwards. Thank God, it veered into our neighbor's yard or he would have been buying a boat. LOL
We live on a hill and many of times we have parked at the bottom of the hill so we wouldn't get stuck. So I can sympathize with you.

A tree fell on my car. That is awful about your car rolling down the hill. I would not have been able to watch it. I would have covered my eyes.

Thankfully, I had already gone to work, so I didn't see it. I can just imagine it.
Wow, a tree on your car, that's bad!

Managing the cold is not a problem, here in Maryland. Expensive but not a problem. We have electric baseboard heaters that we run in three of our bedrooms. For the rest of the house we have a pellet stove, think fireplace that is continually feed with wood pellets.
We have had one time during one winter where there was lots of ice and it brought electric lines down through a big part of the county. Luckily we had a gas powered generator that we hooked up and got our pellet stove running.

Yes, we are lucky. That is one of the reason's I don't want to move to the Southern US is because I would miss the snow. I like having four seasons.

I live in Maryland too! I was so happy to hear that we are going to get some snow here in Baltimore. I just moved her from Pennsylvania, and I really thought that it would never snow here. Even if it is only going to be an inch or two, I know that I am going to love it. Though I am sure that the traffic is going to be pretty bad with everyone slipping and sliding over all the the highways.

Well we were ripped off again! Where in Baltimore are you? I live in Harford County, right off of Route 40.
Yes, traffic is always bad when it snows. My husband called out yesterday when they were saying the roads were bad. He has plenty of vacation time. His boss was okay with it, but when it all turned to rain I kept telling him he should go in for at least a half day, LOL.

Ahh you’re so lucky! We don’t get snow or winter here T_T ..i got to experience winter when I was studying in the UK. I miss the winter season! Many people here think that I’m strange because I miss winter. Lol. Our country is warm all year round, that’s why I miss the winter season so much!;)

When we do get snow, it might last a day or two and then it is gone. Maryland's weather is so crazy.
