I want to lose about 30 lbs, Maybe more, my height is 5'3" and I weigh 200lbs. I am getting older and I think I would be more in shape, if I lose some of this weight, I am going to start walking as soon as it gets warm, Then I was thinking why wait till it get warm, just go to the Malls and walk around for about 1/2 to 1 hours, you think that would do the trick? I do, and another thing, green tea is suppose to make you lose some weight too. I am going to get me some today. and start watching what I eat. I look terrible, and I know I would look a lot better if I did lose some weight. Do you need to Lose? It is hard to keep weight off when you get older. Thanks~~~ Marcie

About 4 years ago I went on the Atkins diet and lost 40 lbs pretty quickly. Thought I would die the first day of it, but it did get easier within a few days. Then we moved out of state and I fell off the wagon and gained about half of it back. A few months ago I quit smoking and could not stop eating! Ate anything that couldn't get away! I have started smoking again because I feel like a beached whale now and it has helped to stop the mindless eating. Anyway I highly reccommend a low carb diet for weight loss...it really does work. The older I get the harder it is to lose weight. And the "sands of time" keep shifting so do it now (Whatever method you choose) before it is too late to stop mother nature from doing what she does best...destroy your figure.

It has already been destroyed, but I am going to do something about it real soon, when you quit Smoking you do gain a lot of weight that is what has happen to me, I use to smoke 25 yrs, ago, and stopped, and they is how I kept gaining weight, I use to be small frame.

I am not sure if everyone gains a lot (they claim only about 10 lbs) but I sure did. Think it has more to do with exchanging one bad habit for another. I will quit again, but not until I get some of this weight off. I think I am more in health danger with the extra weight than I was with smoking. So, for now, I will just stick with cutting way back on smoking and not quiting altogether.Good luck with your efforts and congrats on keeping quit.

Its too bad we don't live closer to each other. I need to loose some weight to. I gained some weight since I quit smoking. Its wintertime too, and you tend to gain weight in the winter. Soon it will be spring and we will be able to get out of the house. Good luck to both of us Marcie, we need it. I know as you get older its harder to loose weight, our metabolism slows down.

You are so right, the older we get the harder it is to stop from gaining weight. I am a little shorter than you but a couple of years ago I saw my weight creeping up. I don't believe in the expensive diets. Anybody I know who has lost weight rapidly has gained it back and more. I don't know if this will help you or not but walking is very good. Unfortunately where I live there is a lot of ice and snow so I have not walked since just before Christmas. Mall walking is very good but my Walking Partner got sick and I don't have a car. I also cannot drink all that water one is supposed to drink. I drink a lot of green tea. I make a big pot, drink it hot and when I feel snakish I drink it cold with a little lemon and sugar. I cut out all soft drinks, diet and otherwise. Now I buy a single can instead of a case when I crave a soft drink once in a while. I don't eat potato chips anymore because they contain a lot of salt. I snack on a few raisins or frozen blueberries. When I watch TV I usually make another pot of herb tea and sip it. I try to eat normal portions, avoid deep fried foods and most take out foods. I eat tons of vegetables and instead of slathering them with cheese sauce I sprinkle a few toasted nuts or almonds on them. I do eat a good breakfast though. Oatmeal with milk and a few slices of banana or apple keep me full until lunch. Same with two slices of toast, an apple and a cube of cheese. Lunchtime is soup time. I make my own broth because of the salt and add veggies, rice or noodles. Supper is normal. Meat, potatoes, veggies and always a salad. Deserts I eat seldom. I gave up mayo, I buy reduced fat Miracle Whip and low fat salad dressings. Once in a while I order a pizza for supper.
So how am I doing. I only lost 10 pounds in two years but at least the weight is not creeping up anymore. I know how you feel. It is very depressing to see one's body go to mush. Now I feel much better and I think I am much healthier. Many good wishes to in your quest to get back into shape. By the way don't feel bad if you indulge once in a while.

You should try and eat breakfast. That way you will have energy to move around. Also I think it is important so set small goals such as not gaining any more weight. Once you have achieved that you can take some steps to cut out certain things. Think about soda. Did you know one coke contains 10 teaspoons of sugar? I just used coke as an example I don't know if you drink soda or not but you see what I mean. Best of luck.

Hey Marcie. I have gained a little bit of weight also. I wish to lose about 30 pounds also. My husband says I don't need to but I know I do. I have a treadmill and exercise bike to use but need to make time for it again. Walking at the mall should be good for you. I need to try the green tea diet. I bet you don't look terrible Marcie but I know how important it is too look our best. I have a hard time getting my weight off too. All that I want to do is feed my nerves.

I know how you feel. I think i look bad too. I just cannot force myself to do anything about it. I don't have the time to. I can't get my nerves calmed down long enough to think about feeding my nerves. I am always working all of the time to have enough time for myself to exercise.

I needed to lose 80lbs starting last June. Since then I've released enough weight that I've gone from a size 26 to an 18. I want to be a 10/12 again! I had great success with Isagenix (www.lautz_tm.isgenix.com)and not only have lost weight but my health has improved immensely. I am the only one at work who has NOT gotten the flu this season. It really is worth checking out!

I've lost 45 lbs and I hate to say it not been a 'perfect' product user. That is why I love it! I don't have to be perfect anymore! I can live like a normal person and still lose weight.
My site name has changed to maximizeyourlife.us - because that is what I have done. Not only have I released a lot of weight but my health and energy is totally turned around. I went through this entire cold/flu season without getting sick! First time in years that has happened. I also have a ton more energy to spend on my 4yr old son - he sure likes that!
Contact me at info@maximizeyourlife.us if you want to communicate off list.

It's truely nasty to gain weight but the one who wills to lose it is somekind of clever and courageous one because u know the about the word called personality which only lies in those who are physically fit and mentally alert.By,the way about loosing weight its like walking on a hot ashes but one can do it if he/she prefers to take a proper diet which includes mineerals, rather than fat and a good exercise everyday.

I think everyone has trouble keeping the weight off as they age. We don't have the same energy we did in our 20's, etc. Plus many of us women tend to gain it in the middle and keep it there. Mall walking is a great idea! My exes parents used to do it every morning at the mall, and the last time I was at the Mentor Mall I was there before most of the shops were open for business. (I had a vision appt.) I could not believe all the older people who were there just walking. A lot of them had on their sweatsuits and were doing that rapid power-walk thing, where they walk really fast and swing their arms while walking. Anything that gets your heart beating more and exercises your legs and all will help, not only with weight, but with the general health.

I have to lose 130 lbs. I did lose 26 lbs but gained 15 back. I am on a doctor restricted diet. The problem is I have fibromyalgia and winter is very painful. This winter we got 6 feet of snow and walking is about impossible now until spring. I have no place to exercise much at home with 12 people living with us. I do get some done though. The other problem is some family members the adults especially know I am to eat certain foods and not others and they eat up what I need. Then expect me to eat what ever there is and not gain weight. I can't just go out and buy more we have a low income so the dollars and the larder have to stretch. I wish I had money to go to the YMCA and swim 2-3 times a week. But can't afford even the low income price and it is 40 miles RT. Will be glad when spring gets here and I can walk again and swim in my pool. Right now I am just staying the same not gaining thankfully but not losing either. 296 lbs and 5.4 age 58.

Do you live in the City or Country, you could walk around the block, a couple of times a day! I use to walk 2x a day, around the track, 2 miles all together.

"just go to the Malls and walk around for about 1/2 to 1 hours, you think that would do the trick?"
Its definately a great place to start! Remember that every little bit helps and counts..Mall walking is a great starter then when it DOES start to warm up you can do even more walking outside...Another good cold weather indoor thing to do is things like Pilates and Yoga...lunges, squats, crunches etc etc...
Main thing is..keep moving... drink plenty of water and be more mindful of what you eat :-)
Speaking of workouts, I have to get my second one in (I do a hard workout on my own early in the morning but also workout with my kids later on and they are currently waiting for me LOL)

Well, Ravem before when I use to walk I had lost some weight I would walk at his track, at a School, I would walk 2 or 3x a day, 1 mile each time. acually 2 mi. a day. for 5 days, it did the trick because I lost about 20 lbs. so walking really does help that is the best exercise anyone can do and it doesn't cost a thing! That is good you stayin shape, when are you going to let us see you? LOL.

Well, i think you need a diet buster for that. It is not healthy to be iver weight because it deprives you to do so many things because you are not fit enough to do all the task. You breathe heavily and gets tired so easily at least if you are fit then it is good and for the self esteem itself could build you up a good personality to be presentable to others .

It's true when you get older your metabolism changes and it's harder to lose weight. It's great to start an exercise program, just start gradually and keep working on increasing the time you walk. What Ive been doing is trying to eat less
processed food, less bread, sweets, more veggies and some fruit. I still crave chocolate and have some desserts but I try to get a little more exercise the next couple of days. Don't give up!

I understand your frustration. I drink alot of green tea. I have lowered my portion sizes, no seconds and have increased activity a LOT. I stepped on the scale after two weeks, I gained three pounds. I have to literally starve to lose. I know that it is very bad fro you but it is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

It has definitely gotten harder for me to lose weight as I have gotten older. I have lost 65 pounds since the first of the year though and I am feeling much better. I'm drinking lots more water and I have an ingredient that I add to it that has helped me to lose weight. If you want to know more about it send me a message and I'll tell you about it. :) Have a terrific day!!!

the secret to keeping fit is to watch what you eat and burn what you eat as well. running does help and swimming as well.
