He is on the front cover of the business section. The picture shows him hard at work. Have you ever been in the newspaper and if so, what was it for?

Hey, that is exciting! Did you buy a lot of copies? That's pretty cool and something I'm sure you're going to save. Yes, I was in the newspaper before. They did an article on me about an illness I had had, and how I was doing a thing in my church for a charity called the Jesus House. It was around Christmas time and I had the idea to use a stocking in a special way, blah blah. I just wish they had not taken my picture. It looked horrible!

Yes, I have been in the newspaper when I was 13 years old. He he he! It was when I received an award, a scholarship grant actually that would cover my full tuition fee at a catholic private school exclusive for girls. I made me pretty proud at that time since a lot of people saw it and asked me about it and how I came to get the award.

I can remember being in the newspaper 2 different times as a child. Does that count? One time I was in the 4th grade at school and our classes were putting on a dance program for the school. Our paper had a special entertainment section and my picture was on the cover of it doing one of the dances, complete with my little sailor dance. The other time was when I was in the 8th grade and they dedicated the new school that they built. The teachers from different classes had chosen students to go outside to help with planting a tree that they were putting in at the same time the school was opening. My younger sister not only had her picture BUT she also had her name and got to help with the shovel, or something. ohhhhhhh.............I remember another time. When I was in high school I was in a Christian singing group with kids from all over the city. There were only about 10-12 of us and we sang at churches and VA hospitals in the area, although sometimes we drove an hour or so. One time they did a story on us and an older sister and I were in the paper for that. I live in a bigger city, too, so I'm pretty lucky to have been in the paper so many times!! lol I was also in a smaller paper that the city has, as an adult, because I was on the city wide PTA. Not of it really touches being in the NY Times. You ought to ask for his autograph!!

How exciting!!! I haven't had my picture in the paper before, but I have been quoted twice. The first time was back in 1989 when my british penpal and her mother came to visit my mum and I in Toronto (our mums were also penpals for over 30 yrs at that point, and this was the first time meeting in person). There was an article in the Toronto Star the next day, in the A section too. Rather impressive, I must say. The second time I was quoted in the paper was just this past October, in the London Free Press. This time, it was a front page story telling about my deceased son, and how I celebrate his life with chocolate cake on his birthday every year ( www.chocolatecakeday.ca ). That article created a lot of interest in the community, and was even talked about on some local radio stations. :)

Both events are so cool!! I used to have penpals but never met any of them, but have met email pals........not quite the same, I don't think. That is so cool that they met after all those years and from Britain to Toronto! Sorry to hear of your son and I wish we had thought of doing that for my grandson. It might have made things easier each year for my son (his dad).

There's no time like the present. You could always do something like that in memory of your grandson this year. It would still help. :)

I have been in the newspaper several times in my life. Every year of my little league softball career I was in the paper and on my first communion and the year after my first communion when I was a part of the ceremony. I was also in 2 different newspapers my senior year of high school. As an adult I have been in the paper 3-4 times when I was in Real Estate.
