I have about 10 roses growing in my yard and althought the bush itself isnt terribly attractive,i love the perfume, colour and shape of the flowers. My favourite at the moment is called Double Delight. The perfume is sweet and the colouring is beautiful It starts off with a creamy heart and pink edging but as the flower ages, the pink bleeds into the centre so the whole flower turns pink.
What's your favourite?Even if you dont know the name..a favourite color will do.

i remember years ago when all the girls would go out to the bar for some dancing and the flower gil would come by and we would buy for each other and then some would come from some guy in the bar we went there so often that we were regulars and when a guy wanted to buy me a rose the lady would already know what i wanted it was always the same "sterling silver" its like a lavender rose but not as strong and yes it is quite silver.

Ok i think i've been convinced to get a silver rose!I do need something different to break up the colours i have.So far i have black/red,dark pinks, pale pinks, yellows,a white, a blue/lilac and 2 bi-colours.I think a silver one would look great.I also want one called Hot chocolate..it's a very warm browny orange colour!

Wow! Sounds like your "Double Delight" could become a favourite of very many rose lovers.
My ultimate extremely fragrant favourite is "Silver Anniversary." It is a heritage rose, that opens a beautiful deep mauve, then petals at tips, to a wonderful silver (tinged mauve) color. Interesting, mauve/purple is not my favourite color but watching/smelling this wonderful rose transpire into all it's glory is amazing.
The insane thing about this, is that, this rose is very difficult to find, as it is a heritage. Anyone out there know where I can find it.

I'm actually not a huge fan of roses...I'm much more into Lilies..BUT a rose bush I AM hoping to get this yr for my yard are "Black" Roses (which arent really black but rather a deep dark red)....other than that type though I'm not all that partial to them....

Lilies are beautiful too.I havent gotten any yet but want to get some Belladonnas and Hippeastrums soon.I have 2 roses that are a bush but not black.I have a regular type rose called Black Beauty and that is a very dark red.It has very tight, almost pointy petals and holds its shape for a long time.I know of some people who arent really into normal roses but prefer climbers.I see why you dont mind the bushy type as they spring a lot of flowers at the same time when a regular plant can be bare for a while before flowering.

One of my favorites is a "Pinata Climing Rose Hybrid" Rosa x 'Pinata'. It is an orange rose with red on the rim of the petal. I liked it so much I bought 4 of them.
When I bought my house there was a rose that came with it. It was taller than the 1 story roof. It went into an arch and was touching the ground. It was a mess. It turned out to be a performer once I started working with it. I had roses in December and January.

Brilliant Red American Beauties. I have them in my flower garden surrounded by African violets and white lily of the valleys. They are just so full and beautiful.
