Avast is probably one of the best free anti-virus programs out there because it has real-time scanning of files and includes a DOS scanner that can be scheduled to run prior to leading any system files that are not necessary for critical system operations meaning it will catch any of those sneaky driver viruses

I have been using many antivirus like Mccafe,AVG and NDD but I still feel the AVG (free version) is the best and my computer by and large was very much protected. Right now I have NDD and would like to switch over to AVG. You can down load this at www.downloads.com

I have the Avira free anti virus for my computer. I used to use the Avast but it did not take away some of the trojans and I had to format my computer. Then I got Norton from my older son, and used it for some time, but then I decided to switch from Windows Me after I had used Norton for two years, and it was at the end of the expiry period. I like Avira, it lets me know if there is an evil trojan and gives me recommendations if I should delete, quarantine, or leave it alone. I can get the paid version. I have a Windows Xp home edition, and a HP Compac Presario computer, not a good one.

I will only use McAfee. I had problems with Norton on my old computer and the new one came with McAfee. I love it, I bought the same software for a friend and I ordered the same software with my laptop thats coming in the mail.

I have been using AVG free from Grisoft for years.
I recommend that too if you are looking for something decent yet free.

My boyfriend and I both use AVG, it was recommended to us both separately and it's free! Had it for about a year now and no problems yet. It just kind of takes care of it's own self.
