What is going to happen when all cable turns digital?

I have heard recently that all cable will be turning digital in 2009 and wondered exactly what will that mean for everyone. I heard the televisions that arent high definition will no longer work. Is this change in cable going to drive the price of cable up? If so I will probably cancel my television service as its expensive enough as it is! Think of all the televisions that are going to be in the landfills if they are no longer able to be used all the sudden due to the switch to digital! Does anyone have more accurate or complete information on this then I know as its all slightly confusing.

I seen something on the news about how you don't have to get rid of your tv just need to get a convertor box. I believe there's a website you can go to and get a certificate to get a box.
Kyle and I just bought a 42 inch LCD HD tv but we already had a convertor box when we switched cable company's.
Maybe if you called your cable company and asked them if they had a certificate or something. :)

Your right I probably saw the same thing on tv as you did but I forgot to write about it until now. The only people who will have to buy a converter box thing to attach to their tv are the ones who dont get cable and use the bunny ear things. The people who receive cable its already all set up through the cable companies. So this being said I cant wait to see what the digital is like when it changes.

If you have a cable box you will NOT be effected by the changes. Not sure why it would drive the costs up, most cable companies are already set up for digital.
