First and foremost, be friendly. You can't make friends when you don't want them! It's necessary especially when you socialize with new people. Be open. Be true. Be real. Nobody wants you when you're fake. Don't fool yourself, because don't be what you are not. It's easier to make friends with people when they know who the real you is.

First of all, one should keep smiling genuinely and introduce oneself. To have a friend is to be a friend. Be sincere, honest and straightforward. After observation, if you like a person, offer your friendship, if the other person evinces interest. Friendship is always through mutual faith and mutual understanding.

I agree with all of you. I talk to people just about every where I go. Smiling genuinely, offering help if I can in the grocery store, at a restaurant, at the movies, at the roller skating rink, church, where ever I go. Genuinely being nice to people. When you see people regularily at these places, and share the same interests, it seems you talk and share and trust a little more each time. Some become good friends. Some don't. That is the way it goes, but you never know if you don't try.

Don't try to be someone you're not; just be yourself and then you'll find genuine friends. :]
