My 6 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. Does anyone else have a child with this condition? Has your child outgrown it? How many neurology visits a year can I expect? I appreciate any advice!

there currently is no cure for epilepsy, a number of medications can help to bring seizures under control and to enable people with epilepsy to lead normal lives

Hi there, I was epileptic for many years.....I have since outgrown it, but many times watching my son play video games causes twitching of the eyes, and things of that nature.
I personally never really had seizures but would black out. It came from the strain of producing colors in my mind.
But, if your daughter plays video games at all, many will have warnings about epileptic seizures so I would take precautions.
Good luck with this, and be patient with her as it is irritating to have.

Hi, I have epilepsy. I am 26 and was just diagnosed with it a year ago. If she was just diagnosed - you will probably see the doctor every 4 months (unless there is a problem) They just want to make sure the medicine is working for her with no real bad side effects. You are able to somewhat outgrow it. If I am seizure free for a few years - then I will be able to go off the meds. Hopefully you found a doctor you like! I have had 3 different neurologist in Miami - then finally found a great one in NYC.
