Please give one practical example of the quotation mentioned.
Here's mine: My neighbor makes quilted bags. But I don't see many people buying. One day, I went there to buy one of her bags for sale. It's simple but at least I made her a little happy.
Now give me yours. Thank you.

Hi,
In our area a small boy was selling flute every one was interestingly listening to his talent in his flute. But saw no one appreciated it with not more than a 1 paise coin. I just gave a ten rupee note and when boy saw that his eyes became bit enlarged and the play on his flute too was too becoming energetic. Later there started pouring rupees and notes.

I can tell you something from experience...... I have been in situations a number of times where a place was left better than before just from the person leaving full stop!!!!!
But on a serious note; any situation where you leave a positive impression is a solid example of this quote in my opinion. It really doesn't take much to make someone happy; and you have attested to this yourself!

We use this quote in Girl Scouts to teach our young ladies to pick up after themselves and to make small improvements where ever they can. When we are leaving camp, we clean everything to the point that it does not look like we had been there at all. At our meeting place, we vacuum and dust and erase our footsteps so again it appears we have not been there. While on hikes, we pick up trash left by previous hikers. This decreases our impact on the area. At home, the girls are taught to help their families by doing a little more than expected. Over time, these things become habit.

You did a commendable and praise-worthy job by helping your neighbor sell her quilted bags. I think this kind of gestures must be appreciated.
My neighbor is a busy person and he is a businessman. I help my neighbor by paying his mobile bills. Whenever, I go to pay my bills to the concerned outlet, I check from him, if he has anything pending. If he tells that his bill is required to be paid, I collect the bill and payment from him and do the needful at the outlet. This way I believe, that I save his time and efforts.
Good Post indeed!

I just happened to come across this neighbour of ours who is a very good and great cook. I got ready made powders and pickles which were very tasty. I marketted for her and many of our neighbours bought from her and she is now getting a steady income out of it. I felt very happy.

Thank you Egfitz for explaining tco Xianlinye what my post means. Also I like the example you gave. You know little things that we do to our environment means a lot. Now, Xianlinye, can you give me an instance when and how you can leave a place better than when you found it?

i think it will just like the theory of "broken window"(i don't know how to speak that in professional english)
when i left my high school dormitry, i didn't damage anything.
when i went to the theater,i didn't left any rubbish.
when i borrow a book from library,i didn't write or paint anything on it.
when i ....

My husband works on cars and he always tries to find one small thing on a car that wasn't reported on the repair ticket and is relatively easy to fix. The customer may not ever realize that the seat belt isn't twisted any more, or the broken knob works now, but it pleases him to do that.
I think it also applies in the home. We know that we should pick up after ourselves when we mess something up, leave things as we found them, but in the case of my perpetually messy house what I try to do is not just clean up what I did, but improve one other thing. If we keep doing that maybe I won't be perpetually messy forever?
Also, how about a kind thought that you share with someone, like admiring their outfit or whatever. How about smiling and greeting strangers. All of this leaves the place better than it was before you. And I think it is all beautiful!

Well... that's an easy one for me.
I am a house painter... and everytime I leave a place... the house looks ten times better than when I first got there.

I guess that means if you come into an old house, you fix it, put in new cupboards, change the carpets, wash the floors, and stuff like that. Now if that place was immaculate then you would have something to worry about, so I would say it would be best if you found something had fallen or a picture needed straightened out, that is what would be leaving the place better than what you found it.
It has nothing to do with buying something to put a smile on someone's face.

My experience is about the building I reside in whcih was a seniors building when I first moved into it. They had allowed the tenants council to become inactive, so I worked with a few other concerned tenants to re-activate the council, vote in new officers, and attempt to regain some of our rights that had been lost or neglected. The process brought new life to our building and sparked a new energy in the tenants.

One of my very best friends has more than a few children. She is in a hurry. But the little ones don't want to be quick. So I help them with coats and zippers. Trying to keep the sibling arguing yo a minimum. Gets us in the van 5 minutes sooner. Makes a tired mom smile. It's the little things that can sometimes make all the difference.

When I visit my moms house with my son, I make it a point to clean and vacuum before we leave. They are usually gone in the morning before my son and I take off so it's always nice to come home to a house that is cleaner than what you left it, even if it is something as simple as vacuuming or maybe putting dishes away or something.

That is really nice of you, I do the same thing when I go to visit family. My son-in-law loves cleaning, and when they visit, I never have to worry about doing the dishes or cleaning the kitchen, he always just goes and does it. It's nice to come home to company and not dread if there is going to be a mess to clean up, and he always has coffee made for when I get home from work.

I volunteer to regulate the traffic in the parking lot in my daughter's school.I help th toddlers to put on their bags as they get down from their cars and guide them to the school gate and things like that.I am happy that I am able to bring some order in the place where a lot of small kids roam around.

The first thing that comes to mind is coming to an office where there isn't anything in place. You straight it up so you can find everything.

This is common practice in hiking and camping in the mountains where I live. It's actually called "leave no trace"
Often, I discover the folks before me did not follow the trail rules. When I am out in the wilderness, I always clean up after myself - including burying or taking with me my own waste. (yes, I mean human waste) But I often pick up trash I see that other campers and hikers have left behind.

There is a lot of examples for that quote, we always clean up around our campsites, and pick up any trash even if we weren't the ones that left it there. I also do the same when I'm working, since I work for the forestry service, people are always leaving trash by the woods. I have also always cleaned any apartments or houses I've moved from.

By always cleaning the place before I go. lol But seriously, I am a very organized person. When I come to a place and I know who owns it. If it is in shamble, I try cleaning and organizing the place.

Do people appreciate it all the time? I had a fellow teacher who didn't like others to arrange his things because for him it becomes harder to find where his things are. You know, he would rather have everything scattered so he can easily spot where an item is. But what you're doing is good. Keep it up.
