my wife is using Primolut N for disturbed menstruation. i was going through interenet and found out that in patients with sickle cell animia there are higher chances of blood clots in major organs like brain while using this drug (primolut N). my wife has beta trait. can any one tell me the difference.
as for as i know that Beta trait means the body doesn't produce beta globin for the RBCs. so RBCs lack beta globin.

Sickle cell disease is a disorder that affects red blood cells and is inherited, S Beta Thalassemia being one of the most common variations. A lifelong condition, Sickle Cell may result in serious health problems, including crises (painful episodes), low hemoglobin (anemia), organ damage, infections, lung problems, leg ulcers, bone damage and strokes.
Thalassemia affects the production of normal hemoglobin, and includes a number of different forms of anemia. The severity and type of anemia depends upon the number of genes that are affected.
Beta Thalassemia is caused by mutations in the beta chain of the hemoglobin molecule. How these genes are altered determines the specific type of Beta Thalassemia in the sufferer, so you will need to find more information on your wife's actual condition, and the best remedies for it.
Brightest Blessings.
