What food do you absolutely hate and why?

I would have to say that there is several foods I really hate but the one thing I would never eat is tripe. I just couldn't do it, I think the gag reflex would prevent me from actually eating it. If you don't know, as described in Wikipedia it is "Beef tripe is usually made from only the first three of a cow's four stomach chambers..." I just can't eat internal organs of animals, I don't like liver or kidneys either. I feel bad enough eating the meat but I draw a line at innards. I hate Tapioca too, it seems snot like. The texture is just too strange for me. What food do you really hate and why?

I can not bring myself to ear Escargo (I'm not even sure if I spelled that correctly that's how much I can't stand it) Some friends took me to Red Lobster for my birthday one year, and they ordered this plate. Sure it had cheese on it and that's one of my favorites, I could smell the beautiful aroma of garlic butter melted around it, then when I took the cheese off, all I could see was black globs of slime, I suddenly thought of bugs. I have a phobia of some bugs and I didn't want to be rude but felt the urge to plunge to the ladies room and get ill fast! But yes Escargo is one thing I will never try!

I've also been offered chicken feet and that's another item on the food list I would like to erase. They look so white and rubbery and all fat. Gross! I definitly refused that offer!

coconut meat and coconut juice... and the philippine longganisa and tocino... coconut juice and meat, becasue when i wa slittle i had a bad batch of it, never again. but i do eat anything cooked in coconut milk... ironic... Longganisa and tocino, try eating it everyday for 3 years... our helpers back then didn't know how to cook, so they always served this... and yah, after 3 years, never stood the taste again!

My brother hates coconut too. I always thought it was a treat when I got some. I know what you mean, once you eat something for too long you never want to see or smell it again!

Though I can eat almost anything, there are also some foods that I still won't include on my meal preference. If ever the situation I'm into needs it, then I would consider giving it a try. But since I know I can still afford the regular meals most people eats, I couldn't see myself eating exotic. Beef, ox or whatever part of animal innards, I eat them but still depends on the type of animal it is. The one's I don't like were snakes or any reptiles, even if others say that they provide us energy or something like that. I know that I could still find them on other regular foods, so I'd rather eat the usual way..

I think I'd have to pass on snakes, reptiles and other exotic stuff too. No kangaroo meat either!

I am a food lover and there isn't much that I won't eat! However, that said, there are several things which I don't really care for. For instance, green peas. I don't like them, but will tolerate them in soups, stews and that type of thing. I will even eat a few forkfuls if they are served to me. The same with lima beans. However, there is one food which I cannot stand and won't eat a single bite of, even if it means being rude! That food is liver! I don't like beef or chicken liver. YUK!! I have attempted to eat it prepared in many ways, and have yet to enjoy the taste. I actally get a bit nauseated just from smelling it being cooked!

I love peas! I can totally agree with the smell of liver. I won't touch the stuff either. I hate the way it looks like chocolate pudding when it is raw. I love chocolate pudding and the liver is giving it a bad name!

I like tripe. I've also tried pig kidney barbecued and it was delicious (sliced pieces though, not the whole organ). One thing that I have tried and really can't stand is white horseradish sauce. I felt like my nasal cavity was burning! Yuck! And it can really fool you because it looks just like mayonnaise or sour cream or blue cheese.

I love horseradish sauce. The hotter the better. I have sinusitis and this clears me up real quick!

As long as the food taste good for my tongue, I don't have any problem eating it. But there are some "exotic" food that others say like insects, or animal intestine, well, maybe I couldn't take to eat those kind of food. Not unless I am deceived by others that those are not exotic food, I mean the appearance of the insects are not noticeable and the preparation of that food taste good, then I might be able to eat unknowingly.

I think that disguised and if I was lied to I would probably enjoy a lot of things I otherwise wouldn't try but I think I would draw the line at insects.

I love tapioca, and oysters. I do have a problem with organ meat, tho liver less than others, but it turns out the liver isn't really an "organ" its a giant gland! Funny you should bring up tripe, I was listening to an audio disc of a radio show called The Sarah Jane Adventures and she had been enjoying tripe - her companion was getting queezy just considering it - I think I would too!

I think giant gland sounds even less appealing to me than organ! I think it is the slime factor that I hate about Tapioca and oysters. Blech

I have never been able to eat fish! I hate the taste of it. When I was growing up my mom had a boyfriend who decided that it would be good for us to eat fish three times a week. Needless to say I went hungry quite a lot in those days.

I don't like fish either. My mom was a fisherman and could never understand how a child of hers hated fish so much!

I am not a picky eater. I eat most normal food. And when I say normal, I wouldn't consider liver, kidneys, any stomachs or tounges or anything like that to be normal. Meaning I won't even look at those. But I do not like beans. Any type of beans, baked beans, kidney beans, lima beans. I don't know why, but for the life of me. I can't even remember ever eating them. But I know I don't like them somehow. But out of curiosity, I still wouldn't try eating them again.

I would have to be desperately hungry and on my deathbed before I could even fathom tripe.

I don't and won't eat cabbage and fish. They both smell bad when you are in a house where they are cooked. I have never liked the taste of fish therefore I choose not to eat it. I won't even try cabbage because of the horrible smell it gives off. Also I have my mom warn me ahead of time when she is cooking it because I won't go visit that day.

I hate fish but I can tolerate cabbage these days. I agree about the smell though, it is a bit of a turnoff.
