Anything that's plugged in uses electricity even if it's off.
What you should do is unplug anything that you've turned off.
Use energy efficient lightbulbs as well.

Thanks krizzy! honestly one of our neighbor is also doing that and we are amazed coz her electricity bill is not that high... Starting the day that I read about this We are unplugging every appliances we have here... and wait for the bill now our bill is P 4,700... let's see if it's effective ... thankz

I think it is the refrigerator. It is the only thing that is plugged in that has to use energy 24/7.

I think if you have an electric dryer for drying your clothes, it probably uses more electric than any other appliance in the household. Next is probably the washer, then the stove, but I'm not sure about those 2. The computer would probably be low on the list, but ahead of the radio.
