The best 'review' to motivate me to see a movie is the one were a bunch of religious people declare a boycott because they are hypersensitive about some issue. :)
Often, if I like the concept of the movie, I will see it despite the review. Sometimes, however, the review does get to me to decide that I can wait for it to come out on DVD.

I don't go on critics personally, mostly friends whom have viewed..then that can be iffie...sometimes they enjoy a movie and on their recommendation we will go view...not always to our joy..lol...and sometimes to the contary.
Think it is a hit and miss...although find usually can get a general idea by viewing previews at flicks.Yep previews are the best sorce to our experience....but not always!..lol

I tend to ignore the critics only because I seem to disagree with so many of them. Not all of them, granted, there are some people that review movies that I can completely agree with, but it seems to me after 10 people have given a movie great reviews, it gets more and more difficult for people (who generally tend to conform) to give it a bad one.
Some of the time I'll watch a movie (that I've rented or that someone I know owns) even if I know it's supposed to be terrible, just so that way I can say 'hey guess what, that movie -was- terrible.' I don't like taking other people's word for it when it comes to my opinion. I like to know for sure. :P

I don't really go by reviews, usually the best movie gets a bad review. So I rather see for myself!
