A New Strategy for MyLot

In the short time I've been in mylot, I've finally got my rhythm. When I first joined, I would stumble around. I was overwhelmed by the diverse topics and the sheer quantity of discussions. I found a new strategy that makes my time in mylot flow smoothly and allows me to enjoy this site to the fullest. And, believe me, I enjoy every minute on mylot. I start by clicking on new discussions to see what's up and respond to any topic that peaks my interest. Then I go to discussions I've started and respond to any posters who have recently replied. Then next I go to discussions my friends started and respond accordingly. I then check out discussions I've responded to and make sure to tie up loose ends there. And finally, I start a new discussion....that's my new strategy. It has really given my a good rhythm here. Do you use this system or do you have a better one?

As Dr. Watson said in The Curse of the Nibelung, "That's it, Holmes, by Jove, you've got it!" I sure stumbled around blindly at first, but then some kind hearted myLotters took me under their wing, so to speak. One this about this place is although you'll see a bit of senseless squabbling, most of the members are loyal to myLot and highly supportive of one another. When you reach your magic 500 you will be able to cut and paste and upload photos and then things will really fall into place. One other thing that is interesting to do time allowing is to check out some of the discussions started by friends of our friends, as that is a great way to meet new people with like interests.

Oh! What a great idea. With so many members in mylot, why should I restrict myself to the friends I already have. Thanks for the idea. Now I just have to find that 25th hour of the day (LOL) to surf discussions started by friends of my friends.

You seem to have the perfect strategy to suit your stay here in mylot... In my case.... i start a discussion first... the answer some of my friends' while waiting a response to my discussion... and when there is... i immediately make a comment... i will go back and forth back and for with responding to the discussion of others and commenting to the ones that other left to mine... But i don't do this everyday... it is also a case to case basis... and it depends on my mood here in mylot...

Depends on your mood? Are you kidding me! I could log in when I'm in the foulest of moods and after a few minutes on mylot, I find myself smiling. Specially when I get responses from my friends here or I see new topics that my friends started. Regarding your strategy, I like it. I'm glad it works for you. I tell myself not to log on everyday, like you mentioned, but I can't help it. I got to have my daily dose of mylot.

Your strategy has a good flow. It's like your having your goal for the day. Do you have a goal to be reached or amount of posts to be made per day? It's much more effective that way. :)

That's the point, you have to have goals. You can't just wander around like a lost puppy. You'll never arrive! My goal is to answer all my friends' discussions that I have knowledge or interest in. And I start discussions that I find interesting from the day's news, sporting events, personal experiences or stock market reports. And when I find something interesting in Facebook or mylot, I try to share that here. I guess my goal is to answer my friends' posts and, time permitting, post as many things that I learned today.

I don't have a better one just one that works for me. Each of us has to work out a system that works good for them. No two people are alike so I don't think any certain system is going to work for all. It is good that you have a system that works for you. Happy Myloting. A great site to be a member of.

Good ideas! Thank you. During the weekends, when I have more time, I do the same thing you do. Thanks for the good tips.

It's worked great for me. I remember when I first started, I was very unrpoductive here. When I started this system and made a habit out of it, I saw my responses increase, participations increase, number of friends increase, enjoyment and energy for mylot increase and of course earnings increase! Good luck to you. I hope the system or your variation of the system works out. And you are very welcome....it is my pleasure to share the map with everyone here as it has given plenty of joy.

You are right. Mylot provides its members, a vide range of topics and number of posts are unlimited and so one will always find some topic or the other which he/she can answer competititvely.

I love it here! I've learned more in a month here than a 4-year university...LOL! Seriously, whenever I've needed information on any topic, I find an answer here. There's always another member who's knowledgeable and is willing to help. I could ask about any subject under the sun and someone will chime in with an educated opinion or solution. And sometimes when I need validation over a personal feeling, decision or action, there is always a mylotter who can relate or give a different perspective. It's great, isn't it?

You will find your own system. I've been here for about a month and change. This site has really made a positive impact on me. And in the short time I've been here, I've made tons of friends....not just that....I feel like a veteran already! Imagine those guys who have been here for a year or more. How much more have they gained from this site? A lot I promise you. Surf around mylot and enjoy it. Don't do it for the money. Eventually, you will earn more from this site than a buck can ever do for you! Besides, a buck (US Dollar) is worth less than .70 Euro cents! LOL he he he

i find it hard to respond to discussion that has lots of responses. so i go to "discussions with no response" or "new user discussion". thats where i manly post. it seems to work well for me. =]

Hi there, I'm glad it works for you. Keep on doing it. And I know how you feel. Sometimes it's hard to read 100 replies to a discussion. And I've discovered that those "discussions with no responses" are interesting topics as well and are worth replying to. The point is to have a system that you're comfortable with and that you enjoy, be consistent with it and follow through. Don't let too much time pass between log ins. Make a habit of getting on mylot at least once a day, even just for one minute. Eventually, mylot will be a very pleasant habit...and heck..if you make a buck or two, that's not a bad thing, is it?

Though I follow a part of your system, I am unable to spend more time in mylot as I have other chores to attend to. So I respond to many discussions and am yet to start many discussions. But anyway thanks for giving a full clue as to how to proceed.

I know what you mean about lack of time. I have a business and work 10 hours a day. I wish I had more time for mylot. Just like you, I have yet to start many discussions. By the way, you're very welcome. It's my pleasure to share ideas. I hope to do more in the future. And I hope to hear some of your clues in the future also.

I'm new to MyLot, and I have yet to start a discussion. I am looking at the latest posts in my interests and responding where I can. I don't know if there is any point in adding to older discussions. I would think most people would look at what's new. Am I right?

You're right. Mylot organizes discussions by latest responses. So if a discussion hasn't received a response for a while, it will be relegated to the back pages of that interest. Although, I have found some interesting topics that have been posted a few months earlier. There are certain topics that aren't time essential. For example tips on household maintenance, personal grooming, recipes or wesite links for certain interests. Happy mylotting!

Hi..I'm quite new here and this is just my first time to join in the discusssion. I have posted on some already and it does help me through the navigating and getting to know the people more in mylot...most of the members are friendly and helpful especially to those who are just tring to learn the ropes...I have already learned something from reading what you have shared. Thanks, Tina

Welcome to mylot Tina. You are going to love it here. You'll definitely learn something new here everyday (possibly every hour if you have the time). I'll add you as a friend. If you need help in anything whether it be personal or business, ask in mylot, someone's sure to answer, give help or give good advise.

LOL. I can't really say I have a system. I just jump from one thing to another. My attention span isn't up to par these days, so following something all the way through doesn't seem to work for me. I do check my email frequently for notifications for discussions my friends have posted and try to answer as many of those as I can. I post my own topics as soon as the inclination hits me. I can actually be in the middle of posting a comment, get an idea and run to the "start a new discussion" button leaving all the rest behind. I just kind of sail from one thing to another and so far it seems to be working.
