My two favorite games was Life, the original version, not the one that is out now. I bought it a couple of years ago for my kids and was so disappointed on how the game is played now. I donated to our school.
I also loved the original Mystery Date game. I remember that my dad and brother would play it with us. LOL Who could forget the bum, but by today's standards the bum would fit right into society. LOL
Then outside the all time favorite game in the neighborhood was tag. It was great that we had the run of the block not worrying out who was lurking around. Oh the good ole days of growing up in the 1970's.

Life and Monopoly were the two games we had when we were growing up. They were fun to play.

I agree with you but have you seen the new Life game? You get to pick you career, house, and how many kids you want before you start the game. That was always part of the thrill of the game.
I think I am going to visit Ebay to see if I can find the original version.

Mooch, I don't know why the toy manufacturer's are doing it either.
Now I do like the two new versions of Uno.
I did just check and eBay is selling the 1960's version.

My favorite game then was scrabble, but then there were local games like "tag game" and "catch my stick" and "touching ball".

In the long run, it helps children who are exposed to mind games better chances of stimulating their brain because of the exercise of it.

I loved the game of life, same as yours. lol I also liked playing cards (go fish and old maid). Funny thing is the outside game was dodge ball. All the kids in the neighborhood would love to play and have a great time, funny thing is I didn't know all the kids who played, but they were all welcome to come and have fun :)
I grew up in the 70's also :)

Mine was called Chutes and Ladders. In some places I think its called Snakes and Ladders. I don't recall seeing it in the stores anymore, but then again I haven't gone looking for boardgames in a long time.

It's still around, LOL. We have been through that game and Candyland. LOL
They were such great games for kids who can't read.

We never had Parcheesi but a friend did. I think I drove her crazy always wanting to play it while I was at her house. A couple of years ago I tried finding it but couldn't. I bet it is on eBay. LOL

My favorite game was baseball. We would play in the backyard and pretend it was Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, and so forth. It was great, althoughI honestly don't think my neighbor liked us climbing out fence everyday 50 times to get the ball that we hit into the bleachers, because the fans did not throw it back.

LOL.
There was a many whiffle ball games in our backyard. Our house was the go to place because Mom and Dad would be out playing with us. So sad that more parents didn't get involved, but we always had fun.

My favorite game is Monopoly. I used to play that game with my brothers and sisters and I can also play it alone with invisible players I name when I was a kid..lol..I also love scrabble we play it before during blackouts..before power failure always comes for an hour or 2 at night..not much on that now though. But thinking about it is sure fun. :)

My favorite game to play growing up was probably Monopoly. I think everyone always let me win somehow cause I was the youngest but it was still fun. I still love to play it when someone lands on a property I own and I get to tell them how much they owe me. I get some weird fun out of that I guess. I can't wait til my son gets old enough to enjoy it with me. I also use to like playing solitaire with real cards. I play it on the computer all the time now but somehow it's just not the same as with real cards, I guess it kind of takes away from it all.

Monopoly was another good one. My girls are not into it though. We did have Monopoly Jr, which was cute.
Oh you brought back memories of sitting around playing solitare, especially when I was sick. That was before the days of cable tv. LOL

Well, Kimber, do not cry for the good old days. They are gone now But be consoled that at one time in the past, you had fun. It is the turn of the guys of today to do their stuff the way it positively appeals to them. Besides, change is the only constant in life. Cheer up.

Memories are the one thing that no one can take from us.
