Does Anyone Have Any Unusual Pets?

I have read lots of discussions about pets, but so far have only come across pets like cats and dogs, oh and parrots. We (well My hubby) have snakes as our pets, 3 cornsnakes a Royal Python and a Boa Constrictor, the cornsnakes are about 1 - 2 years old, the Royal Python is about 8 months old and the Boa is about 2 years old. My husband has just started to breed the cornsnakes and we are hoping to have some new babies sometime soon.I like to look at them, but apart from that I am a bit wary of them. my children named the snakes and they are called bart, homer, marge and nelson, bet you cant guess where they got the inspiration for those names!! They love the snakes, my 2 year old girl is not scared of them in the slightest and is always touching them when her dad gets them out. So does anyone else have any pets that are unusual or different, or have you had any strange pets, what were they, why did you have them and what were they called?

(Something I hate about MyLot is that you can't do the UNDO commend. I was typing out a whole response, and somehow selected it all accidentally, and typed a key, so it all disappeared. :o( Doh.) Annnyway, meant to say how nice it is that you rkids grow up to love animasl many are afraid of too. I grew up loving every animal (though getting older I got a bit scared to touch several kinds). But laugh at me. Though I loved my dog and cats with all my heart growing up, I also loved worms as a little girl, and was often even late for school on rainy days, as I would try to save all of the drowning worms. And I took in a whole bunch of a big box of soil, I kept on my deck. I also adopted a (sadly) dying ant that I found in my house, that my cat was playing with. I kept it in a shoebox witih food and padding. I have also had a fish for a couple of years, though I thought it was always cruelty to have a lonely fish in a small tank (it was left at my door in a little flower vase as a gift), so I bought a bigger tank (though not huge one). But hope he enjoyed life. Okay, enough of me rambling on. ;o)

Aw you cutie too. I love finding somebody else who do those embarrassingly (but with everybody did it!!!) of attempting to save and treat them more equally, including lovely worms and ants! Hee hee. I am afraid so much of worms now. I don't know why. I squeal with fright when I put it on a stick, and wiggles and falls off, as I get so scared of it touching me. But as a child, I would pick them up by the handful, play with them, and everything. Aaahhhhhh! About feeding ants, I don't know if you ever read one of my previous postings, about what you do if you have a bug in your insect. You might get a laugh of my recent experience. And also, as soon as I just received your notification of re-reply, I was about to ask you to be my friend on MyLot. Thanks for the asking me first! :o)

I cannot believe you loved worms, oh they are so horrible! Although saying that, if I see one stuck in a puddle I will stop to fish it out and put it somewhere safe. I am very naughty in that I feed ants, I remember going on holiday abroad with my parents once and outside the apartment there were hundreds of ants that just walked up and down the same path all day, we started feeding them and by the time we left 2 weeks later, they were definately bigger!

I used to keep frogs, I find frogs undervalued and fascinating creatures, most people see pets as something to cuddle but I got my enjoyment looking after them, making sure they were happy, I got all the books off Amazon to make sure everything was just right, they had the right food, the right environment and they were happily croaking away, I could sit and watch them for hours. I would even catch flies and moths for them so I could watch them jump at the live prey. I had to give them sadly because they were at my ex's and I couldn't trust my ex to look after them. I miss the frogs and the cats but I definitely don't miss my ex and my ex was a creature which was unwanted LOL! I had more compassion for my frogs than my ex

Aww, hwo cute, Wolfie. :o) Only part I couldn't handle would be catching and giving poor living creatures, even if insects, etc. ;o) All animals bring joy into this world for us

There are some great looking frogs about, but I would not really like to keep one as a pet, but at least you learned about them so that you could take care of them. So many people dont and as a result cannot look after them well. I bet they are interesting though. Sometimes pets are worth more compassion than humans ha! thank you for sharing this with me.

I had lizards as a pet growing up. I know a guy who has a Sugar Glider. He carries it around his house in a pouch. it's very cool, I want to get one sometimes.

We have a spotted gecko that we rescued from a pet store where we live. She was closing the pet shop because of no business and that was her fault because of high prices and filthy conditions and her being rude. She had this gecko and I asked her what she was going to do with it and she told me she was throwing it away because it was blind and she wasnt taking the time to feed it. I told her let me have it and I will give it a good home. She was upset because I wouldnt pay her for it but I told her you are just going to throw it away so why should I pay for it. So I have it and we enjoy it. You cant hold it but we named him lucky because he was lucky I got him. He is scared when you touch him but he eats good and he knows where his water is and he has a safe home.
