I play alot of ps2 games and was wondering if they were going to go out of style like the old nintendo games or the old playstation 1 games. I think that it sucks that as soon as a company releases a new system they stop working so much with the older one.

Its inevitable, it'll later go out like the old games we use to play. Its a progressive cycle so we can only expect improvement as well as earlier games phasing out.
If you could even think about it, game consoles are getting more pricey, you might as well be selling them to working adults than to children or young teens. The games are even getting more violent along with the graphics improvement.

No, you just have to enjoy what you have at the moment. Its not really about the recent consoles available, you should just enjoy the games. You have played games before that are now referred as retro but still enjoy them when we get the chance to play them again, right?
Goes the same way with new games that come up with new consoles. If you focus too much on just the gaming platform, and waiting for the best which is always surpassed by following improvements, you would just be leaving out game titles that could've been one of those that you could've referred as among the best games that you have played.
^_^ that's just what I think so that it gets me alleviated from not being able to play recent games now a days :)

That is a good way to look at it. It is true I do still play alot of old games. Even the really old ones like Pac-Man. Like you said they are classics. Thank you for pointing this out as I often seem to forget.

That is exactly what I was thinking, but one can always hope that they will last a little longer. I guess when I win the lotto I will have to buy a new ps3 or xbox360. Hopefully I win before they come out with some other new system.

I just read an article about the new GTA and I am really disappointed that it won't be released for ps2. I think they should, but I think that it wouldn't look the same anyways so they will not.

I hope they will continue to produce PS2 games. Because in short term I am not going to buy PS3/Nintendo/Wii & etc. But for me, the existing game collection is still a lot and I haven't got the chance to finish them all. Because playing games is really time consuming. So far I had collected many games like burn out series, GTA series, scarface & many more. Once I run over those games in the store, I will buy them and save them in my collection and hope will play them one day later. But unfortunately, PS2 will gradually become obsoleted one day, sooner or later. But it really had given the best experience!

I like to collect games like that also. Then when you get time you have plenty of games to play. I just see that alot of the new games are only available for new systems, but I will wait and they will lower prices in a few years, as they always do. Playstation 2 is also my favorite system so far and will hate to see it phase out, but as you said it'll happen someday. In the meantime all we can do is stock up on games. LoL

I am not sure if PS3 is backward compatible with PS2 games. But if it is, then I have no worry, because I can still use my PS3 to play all the PS2 games. LoL. PS2 is my second tv game system. The first one was bought by my mum when I was a kid. I could still recall its name as "Atari", not sure if you had heard about it. It's a 2D game system and the graphic was not so refined compared to system available today. But it was the best experience during that time. I was grateful to my mum for buying me the tv game :)

Hi jesse2881,
To my opinion, PS2 is far of being out of the market, I think it is still going to be a while for that to happen, I buy and sell video games in my country and every day there's some new release for that platform.
I think personally that PS2 has some very good graphics and the discs are relatively affordable.

I am happy to hear that. As I look forward to many more years of gaming on my ps2. I think that the prices are part of what makes it so great. You can actually afford to buy games more than one at a time.

I'm pretty sure they are, and you can find them in Target, Best Buy, etc. A lot more PS2 games than Gamecube games can be found, that's for sure. As soon as the Wii and Twilight Princess came out, Nintendo pretty much abandoned all the Gamecubes and Gamecube games.
