Rare, medium rare, or well done?

How do you like your steak? I like mine well done. I cannot stand to have any pink at all in my meat. Growing up it used to make my dad mad because I would complain if my meat was not cooked well enough. He said I was ruining a perfectly good steak by asking for it burnt. How do you like yours?

I like mine medium rare. It has to be cooked correctly, though. If it's too pink, I get scared that I may get sick from it, so I'll ask for it to be cooked just a little longer. I think that's only happened once, though. I like it to be chewy. In the past, If I said "well done" it was always dry and tough to chew.

I have no problem asking someone to cook my steak a little bit longer. They either cook it longer or I am not touching it.

I used to have them well done all the blood cooked out of them but now I have learned to eat them medium the longer you cook steak the tougher it gets and it loses it flavor.

Maybe someday I will also learn to appreciate a steak cooked medium, but for now I am sticking with my burnt piece of steak.

Rare to medium rare depending on the cut of steak. I don't like steak that is well done. It's too chewy and dry IMO. I also like to marinade the steak really well prior to cooking it and it's always cooked on the grill at home and never on the stove.

That is why I don't eat steak very often. I have to have it really well done to be able to eat it and then it is a little dry.

Well as for me I would like it to be well done. I guess your dad is right in saying that if you do a well done on the steak you actually take out some of the taste from the steak. I have heard this also from a chef friend of mine. He said that you can truly savor the meat if it is not cooked well done. Well, I can't seem to appreciate medium rare. Maybe it would depend on the person, just like us, we prefer well done and others want it different.

There is just something about pink in a steak. I just cannot bring myself to eat it.

So, if I throw it on a hot grill for 10 seconds and flip it for another 10 seconds it will be perfect for you right?

Hi there... Sounds like what my dad would say to me and I would refuse any meat that looked uncooked and that meant pink. now days Im the same towards any meat... So I prefer well done...

I've gotten my meat rare out before, but I think medium rare is better for safety. Don't want undercooked meat, right? Medium-rare, also, allows you to reheat leftovers at home and not be eating shoe-leather.

I like mine well done. I dont like pink either. Pink means that its not cooked all the way and you could possibly get sick. Esp if the meat is bad in general, thats why you cook it in the first place to make sure you get everything thats possibly bad out of it.

I guess I am not the only one that thinks like that. I am always afraid of getting sick off of under cooked meat.
