Wow really? You're that selfish? You wouldn't want to help someone out who can not have a child by normal means? That's sad and close mided. Oh well.
BTW you couldn't have to pay child support if you go through a sperm bank. When a person/couple purchases sperm they are adopting in a sense and papers are signed to that affect.

Its not about being selfish, its about that i dont like the idea at all and that i dont trust such stuff. If somethings damn selfish then its this sperm thingy stuff. Why cant people adopt children that already exists instead of creating more, thats being power ego.

I have actually put much thought into this subject and have decided I absolutely would. Getting paid for a bit of enjoyment? Why not? I have to be honest I would not wounder whether or not I had a biological child out there. I had nothing to do with his birth, raising or development and am no more significant to his life than the guy who makes my sandwiches at JimmyJohns is to my sandwich. Band analogy? Yes I realize that but am at a loss for one right now.

I can see where you are coming from (no pun intended).
If you didn't leave contact info then there would be no reason to wonder later in life.
But wouldn't it be cool if later you found out that your donated sperm helped to create a child that eventually cured cancer? Just a thought.

Point taken. I think you are correct in that a lot of a child's personality has to do with his/her raising.
I'm just thinking out loud. Thank you for answering my question! Happy posting!

Almost didn't catch the pun even though it wasn't intended very funny. Anyways, I must say that really wouldn't phase me, almost any man could provide the sperm for a child who would eventually cure cancer and I think it has more to do with their raising and of course the random outcome of what one's sperm produced. Creating the sperm is not a difficult job I wouldn't feel like I had much of anything to do with the child. I dunno maybe after I have a child I will feel differently on the issue but until then I just don't see myself having much connection to the child.

I think many men did do this until one man got dragged into court and sued for child support. His sperm was given to a female couple who wanted to have a child and when the couples relationship ended the mother of the child sued him for child support even though he was only the sperm donor.

I know that can happen if the man does not donate through a sperm bank. A private donation like the one you are talking about does not remove his legal responsibility to the child.
I'm talking about going to a sperm bank to give the donation.

beh in reality i never thought about it!!and sincerly i don't know if in my country the system is developed as us or other foreign countries than in europe!!
surely if i must consider an opporunity like that..i don't know..which kind of decision i will take or i won't take about it!!
surely if after much years a girl or boy come to me and tell me i'm your son/daughter because you donated sperm eh it was a strange situation and may be you can feel even good feelings towards him/her as in some movies, comedy, which it shows this kind of strange situation!!

I personally believe I would opt to not give my contact information to the mother. I believe in the US that is an option at every sperm bank. Like I said I wouldn't feel any connection to a child and they would be the same as any other child to me. If biology had anything to do with a person's love of a child I don't believe adoption would yield loving parents/children.

It is a difficult decision to make for some, but it seems that it is an easy decision for many men. I'm just curious about how men feel about this.

Hello dear RebeaccaLynn. I have never thought about this, but I think that it is strictly tested before one is able to donate his sperm to the hospital that collects it because only healthy sperm is allowed to be collected by hospitals before they use it.
If everything is ok with no problems, I would be happy to donate my sperm for money, but it must be kept confidential without the worry of getting into trouble later on. Of course, I would be very happy to know the biological children out there so that there will not be trouble to arise. I mean when they grow up, they will be made sure not to get married to my own child for the same blood from the same father. It is always better to be cautious...
