When you tell people about your travels, you always talk about the beautiful beaches, the amazing buildings, all the nice things and you've seen and incredible places you've visited. But where have you been that for some reason was soo bad you won't ever travel there again?

I don't like to visit big cities becasue there are always many people that I can't stand! The more people, the less fun I enjoy.

I have been to quite a few different places, but I think that for my money the place I would probably not return is Detroit. Michigan is a nice state, don't get me wrong. My cousin and her husband are out there and the area they live in is okay, but Detroit, which I visited for a work conference, was awful. The downtown streets were terrible, neighborhoods were just awful, and there really wasn't too much to do. I did go to the GM building and across to Windsor, but it was just an okay visit. I tried to enjoy myself and ended up just wanting to go home. Oh well, I might give it one more shot, just to see because of my cousin, but we'll see...

I guess i'm a bit of a zealot, but, I don't think there is anywhere in the world I have been that I wouldn't visit again. If I didn't have a good time, it was not the destinations fault. Usually it was my fault. I had false expectations, my frame of mind was wrong...something in me was wrong. Every place in this world is full of wonder and I have learned as I am getting older is that it's how you approach it. Look for disappointment, that's what you will find, look for happiness, you'll find that, too.

Vegas. I've been there twice (hoping the second time would be better than the first) and both times we had to deal with drunks on the sidewalks and panhandlers and people trying to steal your coin buckets in between the slots. I know a lot of people swear they had the best time in Vegas but I think we got a dose of the rotten underbelly both times.

There is no place that I have really hated whilst on my travels. I don't tend to visit a place overseas more than once unless in is on my favorites list. I prefer to visit new destinations rather than the same ones. I don't think I will go to the Maldives again. I had a nasty experience of being attached on a lonely beach. I saw tourists that had spent more than $100 a day and I noticed some desperately poor people. When I came home I read that one third of the local population earn less than $1 a day. The government says that the Maldives is 100% Muslim and everyone that says they are not is in for harsh treatment. One side of the Maldives is paradise like palm fringed islands, another part is a restrictive government and the last part is the rich tourists in sharp contrast to the poor local people.
