Alright, so now I know that all my reading friends are going to make fun of me. I just discovered John Grisham. My friend gave me a couple of books by him and I am almost finished reading, "The Client." It is a page turner and very hard to put down.
She also gave me, "The Firm." No, I have not seen either movie. But I am sure that I will want to, after reading the books. When I read, the charactors look and sound the way that I want them to. In the movie, there is very little room for the imagination to sore. Sometimes I get so lost in a book that I feel I will not be able to put it down until it is finished.
I always find myself saying, I will stay up all night if I have to. Last night, I practically did. I was not feeling well and there was no way to get any relief. So I continued reading, "The Client," at about 10:00p.m. and did not stop until about 4:30a.m., minus going back and forth to the restroom. Then I woke up at 6:30a.m. I would love to finish it tonight, but I must get some sleep, hehe.

It's the Peter Decker police series from Faye Kellerman. It is an older series, but the latest book did come out this past summer. Peter meets a Orthodox Jewish woman, Rina, in the first book and it builds from there.
They are very well written and gives you an insight into the Jewish religion. A friend of mine who is Jewish, started me on this series.

I like to read too, John Grisom is one of my favorite authors. I like Dean Koontz too and many others. If you get a chance get the book "The Watchers" by Dean Koontz, that is excellent, its one of the best books I have ever read. You can get it from the library its an older book. I sometimes will stay up way to late reading too, its fun to get lost in a book. Happy Reading

He does write some good books. I have read one of his books that is also a movie. I can't remember the name of it but it's about a lawyer who helps his grandfather after he goes to jail for a crime of being involved with burning down a lawyers duilding years ago. It was a very good book. One of those I couldn't put down untill I finished books.

This happens to me all of the time. I will "discover" an author that is super well known. It feels kind of funny knowing that the rest of the planet has probably already read the books, but boy those books are great!
As to John Grisham, he does have some excellent books. I am sure that you will have a great time getting to know his writings. :O)

That book got me hooked on grisham.. i read it about 6yrs ago, i think.. my dad has a collection of grisham books because he was a frustrated lawyer and grisham's books are mostly about lawyers. the one that's not is skipping christmas - the one that was turned into a movie with allen in it.. the painted house is also not about lawyers - it, too, was turned into a movie.. lol.. then there's runaway jury.. anyway, keep reading..

You may not have read any of his books, but you have definitely heard of and may have even seen some of the movies that they inspired. Such as "The Firm," "The Pelican Brief," and "A Time To Kill." I will have to check out Barbara Taylor Bradford also. Thank you for telling me about her.

I like to read his books but I am a fantasy fiction geek at heart. Piers Anthony is my favorite author.

My favorite all time Grisham book is "The Street Lawyer". We lived in Dc at one time and I particularly enjoyed the area, so that made the book even better. The story is fascinating and the characters are wonderful! Definitely put it on your list of his books to read. I read every one of his... There were a couple I didn't care for like "The Innocent Man", but that may be it just made me uncomfortable. Isn't it great finding a book this good - it just spoils you when you try to read something else. whit

Ahhhh a good book.... we readers know what that's about. To curl up on the couch or bed and read read read. I love to read too but I've never read any of his books. I've seen them and heard they're good so maybe I'll do that the next time I go to the Salvation Army store. They have all kinds of used books for sale and a much cheaper price.

Good author. I strongly recommend his "The Rainmaker". I was on a flight from Las Vegas, NV to New York, and I didn't stop reading it until we touched down. Great book.

I enjoy Grisham books too. He will be the first one to admit that it's not "important" literature, but there's a definite place for entertaining fiction in my mind! I probably liked "The Firm" least of all of his books that I've read, but even that one was good. I'm currently on the wait list at the library to get the newest one and I look forward to reading it too. Don't worry about what your reading friends might say. My guess is that they might be reading these too and only mentioning the "literature" they read when they talk about books... and if not Grisham, then I'll bet that they have some kind of "dirty little secret" of an entertaining writer they enjoy reading!

Oh, I just love Grisham. He's a terrific author - and has broken into the true crime arena also. I've been reading him for YEARS and look forward to every new book.

I was first introduced to Grisham when I received one of his books to read. I was very impressed with the pace of his books, his knowledge of lawyers and their ways, and the fact that he could write so well.
Since then I've read a lot of Grisham; he seemed to have a patch when he wasn't writing so well, but I think he's back on track again.
It's good to find an author you really enjoy, eh?
The movie of The Firm is very good - although they change the ending quite considerably.
