Best Villain

I was just answering a discussion about 'No Country For Old Men', which happens to star Javier Bardiem as the villain. I have never seen the movie, but everyone says he was really chilling. So I started thinking, which movie villain did you find the most creepy, the most evil, the most underhanded and sneaky? Perhaps the scary part was the normalcy of the villain who happened to do terrible things. I think I may get a lot of 'Saw' answers, but if you can, try to think of one not related to a horror movie. I'm trying to think of one, and I'm coming up kind of short. Any suggestions?

The "child catcher" in chitty chitty bang bang. He was just so scary - and I was an adult when I saw it, well, mostly, I was 14. He was the "pederast," luring trusting children with candy to harm them. Hey, he was a creation of Ian Fleming after all, the creator of great stereotypical villains!

He WAS bad. Did you ever see Babes in Toyland? Now that I'm adult the movie freaks me out even though it didn't as a kid. I didn't realize how truly evil the guy sounded when he decided to kidnap people, tie them in bags, and throw them in the river. It was a kid's movie, and they disguised the gruesomeness with cute songs.

I saw it as a little kid, but I really don't remember it very well, the music more than anything else. I haven't seen it since (well, I did see the toy soldier dance routine since then) but its been so long I can't remember too much. I have looked for it but I'm lousy about finding things, and I almost never BUY or rent movies.

First off I can't wait to see No Country For Old Men..the trailers look really good!! As for the best villian...wow...I'll have to give that some major thought LOL I've seen so many movies over the yrs and so many of them had great creepy villians (Norman Bates for example in Psycho) I'll really have to think about it and narrow it down some LOL

Well I am not going to comment on Javier Bardiem as I havent seen his performance yet. Some people did mentioned Anthony Hopkins in 'Silence Of The Lamb' which I also agree but still I rate Henry Fonda's performance in 'Once Upon A Time In West' as the most chilling non dramatic performance as villain.

I never plan on seeing Javier's movie, but he did win an Oscar for it last night apparently. I think people were so awed that he would let someone cut his hair so terribly that they gave him the Oscar for that, lol. I have not seen Once Upon a Time in the West, but I like Henry Fonda so I should definitely look for it. If not on TV, then maybe I can rent it.

Remember The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn? Well as the little brother who hired all this stuff done I would have been so pissed....though he wasn't really a villian the stuff he did to Michale Douglas was nothing short of being a villian!

Oooo, Jack Nicholson is a good one! I never have seen The Usual Suspects but perhaps I should rent it or look for it to come on TV.

I liked Martin Taylor in Brimstone in Treacle. The story was how he was evil and predatory while pretending to be an angelic figure. Pop star Sting proved himself a capable actor in this role. An added bonus was the character also sang in the movie. I saw this movie years ago on cable around the time the Police where at the height of their popularity. I haven't seen the movie since that time.

I don't watch a lot of movies....so tell us yours. When I watch a movie it is a happy one. It is good for your mental health. You are giving me an idea for a discussion....

Like I said, I couldn't think of one. I don't watch scary movies in general, and can't think of many villains in suspense movies either. I haven't seen any movies in a really long time.

Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". She was really scary, while outwardly trying to present an orderly, kind, and caring persona, she emotionally and mentally abused the patients while invading their privacy.

When i first watched it, the Child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, was the most creepy villain I had ever seen. Since then there was Jason, and Freddie although Kevin Spaceys villain from Se7en is up there

Anthony Hopkins is still the best villain for me, in his role as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMB movie.
