How many of you have a dishwasher? How many of you wash dishes by hand? what do you think gets the dishes cleaner by hand or dish washer? I have just me as a dishwasher and I'm kinda sick of doing it but I sometimes do a better job than when we had a dishwasher. LOL!!! But I never let my other half do dishes that often because when I put them away I tend to throw them back in the sink to reclean them. LOL!!!

My dishwasher with the sanitize on gets my dishes cleaner I think. I'm always in a hurry when I was dishes and seems like I'm the one missing spots. So I definitely would say around this household- the dishwasher rules.

I have a dishwasher and I sometimes wash my dishes by hand. There is only three of us so depending on how many dishes there are to wash, some of the time they go straight into the dishwasher, and other times if I can be bothered, I hand wash. My husband never washes the dishes by hand. They go straight into the dishwasher sometimes not even rinsed. I hate that!

I'm almost positive that men screw up doing the dishes on purpose so that they are never asked to do it again. LOL!!!

Thankfully, I have an access to two dishwashers. One at home and the other while I'm at college. I really feel that the dishwasher really gets dishes cleaner than handwashing does. That, and all the heat that is used during the wash cycle helps kill any germs that may be lingering on the dishes. Not only that, dishwashers generally are better for the environment too because they do not use as much water and handwashing does.

In the Philippines,we usually do the dishes by hand and I do too.I find washing the dishes fun though since I've been doing it since I was a child.Besides, hand dish washing is accurate although tiring(to some).

No, we dont have a dishwasher. We wash our dishes manually. And because I dont know how to cook at home and so my assignment is to wash the dishes. I am more comfortable on washing dishes manually, I can scrub the dirt from food.

Yes we have a dishwasher and its called my eldest son! He does the washing up as part of his way to earn his keep. My husband has always fancied a dishwasher, but I have never seen the point in them, they dont always do a good job and sometimes they really stink. I used to use one at work and it was vile.

We don't have a dishwasher (it isn't very common in India). I have a maid who does it for me....but frankly I do a better job...very few maids have been really done a good job. And as far as my husband goes, he rarely offers to do the dishes (even when we have no maid)...and as far as I remember...he must have offered twice in 8 years of marriage. And the two times he's done it, I've had to do it again. I hate doing the dishes after it has piled up. I prefer washing the dishes as I go along with the cooking and soon after a meal. But it doesn't happen that way with a toddler at home.

We have a dishwasher but I seldom use it. I don't like the way it cleans and I've always hand washed dishes so it's not a big thing for me. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I get tired of doing the dishes all the time especially since I have a condition in which my skin will start to peel of my hands when I was frequently. So I kinda get a little miffed.

we have a dishwasher, ME! sure would be nice to have someone else do them once in a while - well someone besides my beloved that is - not that he does a poor job, he actually does great at getting them clean, but it takes him such a long time. . . he washes a couple, takes a break, washes a couple - gets distracted. it may take all day for a simple load of dishes to be completed, lol. I am too impatient.

Hi there... Im one to prefer washing dishes by hand, I dont really trust dish washes, they cant get where you hands can, the hot water that comes out onto the dishes in a dish washer is great, but then bits of hard food are left stuck to the bottoms... Big ups to the manual dish washers...

I REFUSE to do DISHES! I had to wash dishes by hand every day of my life from the time I was 8 to the time I was 17 and then I had to do it again 98% of the time up until 2005. Since then I think I have done dishes once a month. But I got to ask you.... Why do you get so mad at your sweetie when he used to leave dishes piled up in the sink and wouldn't wash them? Hehehe. I have a dishwasher and I have a sweetie, a step brother, and a 12 year old that do this chore nowadays. We never put anything that is heavily soiled in the dish washer. Those we wash in the sink, by hand. Like roasters, frying pans, huge mixing bowls, etc. The rest of the stuff goes in the dish washer and if it doesn't come clean the first time everyone will run the dishwasher again before they would ever consider washing more by hand.

Yes I too have a diswasher but mainly still do the dishes by hand. I use the diswaher usually when I have visitors as there are many more dishes to do but as it is usually just myself and my son I find handwashing more economical and easier. I have to often rewash dishes from the dishwasher so may as well do by hand. Ellie:D

They do say that you only miss something if you've had it to miss in the first place, and I have never had a dishwasher, so what you haven't had you don't miss! We've always had a manual one, that's me! I used to be left to do all the dishes, because my ex was too lazy! And I would get fed up seeing a stack of washing up left for me to do. If my ex ever did them well you can guarantee that they weren't done properly, another cliche if you want things done properly do them yourself!

When we moved into this house 12 years ago, there was a half-size dishwasher here. I had never seen such a thing before. We used it for awhile but eventually it started leaking all over the kitchen floor so we stopped using it. I sure as heck wish we had a working dishwasher because I can't for the life of me get my kids to help out. I am sick of seeing all the dishes piled up on the kitchen counter - and I have very little counter space too boot. I am dire need of a kitchen makeover, complete with dishwasher but can in no way afford one anytime in the near future. Anyone know of any contests I can enter to win one? LOL!

We have a dishwasher, but some dishwashing detergent remove the finish. So avoid Electrosol at all costs. I have decided to do dishwashing by hand as it gets them much cleaner. We use the dishwasher if there is company, but in order for them to be really clean, I have to rinse them off. And if you have hard water, you cannot get rid of the rust stains by the dishwasher. I had to buy some rush remover and clean them separately.

I have never used a dishwasher, bellaofchaos, although I once had one. It came with my apartment. For some reason I just prefer to wash dishes by hand. The reason could be because, as a child, washing dishes was the first thing I wanted to do. I was so eager that my uncle built me a little stool to stand on so that I could reach the sink. I often came away with my dress soaked, but I was happy to have washed the dishes.

My wife is like you and does a better job with the dishes. But even I find an ocassional fork or plate she had done that has to be redone. We have a new dishwaher but we do not use it. I think Louella would just prefer to do them by hand. I don't want to bother with this machine either. I seldom wash the dishes or the clothes as this is my wife's preference. Once in awhile I take a load of stuff to the laundry matt to clean some throw rugs or our dogs blankets and pillows. but that is all..

I cringe every time my other half does a dish or goes near our washing machine. I swear I end up missing clothes when he washes stuff and then I'm upset and frustrated that i can't find anything. LOL!!!!

Hi bellaofchaos, You may find this hard to believe, but I often feel that doing dishes by hand can be fun. We don't have a dishwasher, and I really wouldn't want one. I find that if you've been doing something that is mentally taxing, nothing gets you back to basics better than putting your hands in some nice soapy dishwater, and making sure that you get everything clean. Blessings.

Thanks for your point of view and thoughts , unfortunately I have a skin condition that my hands peel constantly in the winter and that doing the dishes makes it worse .. So sometimes my hand get to the point where I can't do them at all and then my other half grips to no return because he has to do dishes.
