How to make grammar lessons interesting?

Students find it difficult to concentrate when grammar is taught. They feel bored. How do you solve this problem?
I try to teach them English grammar by comparing it with our mother tongue and paying attention to examples than theory. Is this a good way?

melissa has given some good points i agree too. for me, i'm not really a teacher, rather a tutor. also, my and many others here i would presume, teach the kids in a slightly way though i am not too sure about others.
for me, kids come to my place so i usually have like around 10 at one go, all of different levels.
they're usually weak so i try to basically make use of the fact, practise makes perfect.
this means that i teach them eng, maths and science on a rotating basis within that two hours, but if i feel that their grammar is weak, then i focus on the types of questions most likely to come in the exams.
i get them to do those similar questions mainly for their english of course with a bit of what they like mixed. for example, if they like vocab or cloze passage, i give them together. once they've finished that work, i give them maths to concentrate on so that they won't get bored with doing the same thing in a day.
of course, the next day, it's almost the same with me giving them similar grammar question but if i feel that they're becoming bored or tired, then i let them have a break of about 5 minutes by letting them draw what they like in their books. this seems to perk them up.
they tend to always make the same mistakes but i notice that most of them, a few months later or no matter how slow, they tend to understand what the answer should be for a particular type of question.
i agree that paying attention to examples rather than theory is good too as i too do that. if it seems a little difficult for me to explain or if i think that they won't be able to grasp what i'm trying to say, then i do as you do by giving examples in our native language or better still, in english.(which will improve their language at the same time)
