Time away from family

I love my little family but sometimes I just really need some 'me time'.
This weekend I got some time away where I am spending time doing what I want, when I want, sleeping as much as I need and eating what I want as fast (or slow!) as I want without sharing a bite!
It really helps me stay sane.
What do all of you do for self-care? Do you think I am a bad mother for needing to get away sometimes?

Thank you! I got married at 35 and had my son at 39 and sometimes I think that has a lot to do with it. I've spent so much time on my own that not having any 'me time' is just too much change for me.

Thank you! I needed time not just for me...although that is all I've done today...but also to catch up with the work I can't seem to get done at home! EEK - go on vacation to get work done...that's a new one for me!

family is beautiful gathering of like minded humans and heavenly boon showered upon human civilization by almighty.just cant imazine earth without humans ....everyone cherishes the happy times sharing together under one roof of family.time away from family really hurts,as life always scatters individuals for the search of greater values in life.

I think you're a good mom for actually being able to spend some time just how you want to. It is ridiculous to think mothers can function to their best ability without having any breaks to give herself some much needed TLC. I'm not saying one can't be a good mother, but to be all she needs to be for her family, she needs to be able to function as herself before the role of mother or even wife can be considered.

Hi there. Even if you are away from your family for a while just to be on your own for relaxation does not mean you are not a good mother. Motherhood is quite a tough job but I think all mothers need sometime to be on their own and relax to keep their sanity.
Well, yesterday was my young son's JS Prom and he asked my permission to sleep in a friend's house after the Prom night. He had called me after the Prom to inform of his where about and might be late coming home. So, I had stayed and woke up late in bed til lunchtime. I had the house all by myself.
