In the past most would follow the political party of their parents. I prefer not to declare alligence to any group, since for me this would be inaccurate. For some who may wish to follow a specific party the best thing to do would be to learn, learn about the values, principles, and stands taken by the party. For me I prefer to know about the PERSON running not the party he runs for. Yet it is true that those within the same party will hold with a certain slant on the views they choose. So when it comes down to it, take the time to learn as much as you can, most parties are willing to share literature that will show their group in a more positive light. Something else to consider would looking at the historical aspect, see who belonged to what party, what direction did they go in, vote for etc over the years, What si the party "line" that is the common view expressed by members of a particular party on any given view, but espcially those that are most important to you. Education issues, Tax issues, Criminal Justice issues, Health care issues, to name just a few, Find out which party's views match you own most often, however it is best to find candidates rather than parties that match your views best when choosing who to vote for.

remember...a person may look good or be a good person but they could be a puppet controled by someone else with very different views/plans.

that is why you have to choose carefully and look at their history as well. Sometimes however it will all come down to following your gut instinct. However overall I tend to agree with my grandfather who maintained that a political election was when you got to vote for which politictian you wanted to steal from you.
