Family Guy Taking It TOO Far!

I'm watching Family Guy, which is supposed to be crude I know, but today took it too far. They were showing their little news bit on a plane crash and went through variations...so one of the variations is that the plane crashes into a school full of bunnies, but one of the passengers survives and goes home to beat his wife! So it shows the guy running from the wreckage, he stops, says, "I'm alive! But boy am I mad! Someone's gonna pay for this!" Next scene he is slapping his wife repeatedly, and she asks, "Is this for overcooking the roast?" Oh I'm just really P*ssed off about this! I've seen alot of crude things, but I really can't let this one go! What's your opinion on it?

Oh candy, its just a cartoon, its not like a real plane crashed into some bunnies and the lonely survivor went home to beat his wife. After all in real life if someone did crash into a school of bunnies and lived, it would be safe to assume that he would go home to his wife and thank his lucky stars that he was alive!! Am i right ? Family guy just tries to make people mad because what one person finds offensive another person will find funny. I like the show but i rarely watch it anymore cause i dont want my daughter to see the cartoons beating eacother up and stuff!! lol. She seen it on tv once and when the doggie hit the man she continually said "uh oh uh oh" So that was the end of that! now we dont watch tv. hah.

lol i just watched it on youtube. it was a "what if" situation. he said "here's how it would look IF the plane crashed into a school of bunnies and there was one survivor who went home to beat his wife". lol. I thoguht it was pretty funny. Cause it would never happen in real life candy ;)

I realize that it was a "what if" situation...notice I said 'variation'. And you know as well as I do that I have a great sense of humor for most of that junk. I just don't agree with that episode at all. And the plane crash part of it doesn't happen, but the abuse for nothing happens every single day. And to top it off, probably for the same reason that was mentioned in the skit.

Oh, honey, they take everything too far. I think they're going to make all of us feel like to do, eventually. I know they did me, once. It was when they did some little musical number about "full blown aids, not just HIV, but full blown aids". I was completely appalled and it took me quite a while to be able to watch it again. But, that's what they do. They abuse every single thing that can possibly be abused, and if you're not personally hurt by it, it's usually funny. Horrible, buy funny. You have to groan the whole time you're watching it, but still, you watch. Sort of like not being able to take your eyes from that accident on the highway.........

Oh I agree that the show is all about crude humor, most of which I can enjoy...it just really bothered me about the actual viewing of the abuse.

I hate the Family Guy. I've always hated that show. My hubby likes it though but we haven't seen this episode. From what you've said though I think they're point was it's often ironic of who survives accidents and who doesn't.

I didn't watch this but to be it is saying that men can beat women for any reason. I think it is awful myself.I can say that much about my ex husband he never beat me but he did hurt me with his mind games.

It's a cartoon for adults. I'm an avid Family Guy watcher, and I've seen just about every episode.. that was pretty mild compared to other things they've done!!! For example, they had a bit where Quagmire was screwing Marge Simpson and Homer found out and Quagmire and Homer fought, and Quagmire shot all of them!! Even Maggie!! You hear her pacifier sucking sounds and then gunshot. So- the bunnies with the angry passenger beating his wife.. yeah its bad but I'm a woman and I even laughed about it- I was more upset about the school of bunnies!!! But, it's not the worst they have, or will, done.

I loved Family Guy at first. Due to situations and scenes like the one you described, I have boycotted watching it. I am especially angry at the fact that it's usually children watching these animated shows. What are they trying to teach kids? Take out your anger on others who are innocent??? hmmm, something to ponder

I don't remember them saying that it wasn't for children. Its air on primetime. Although, we're in the information age, there's plenty of areas still feeling the effects of poverty and don't receive cable. Some children have no choice.

Now it's getting somewhere..lol. It's so sad that many so-called adults leave their TV's to raise their children. There is just too much on TV nowadays to let a child choose whatever they want to watch. Great debate all!

That is what is so funny about it, is offending people and taking it too far. That is what comedy is. Art is an imation of life, and if you can't laugh at the bad, then how can you ever laugh at the good and know when your happy. Think about it.

Ignorance like that I would never watch that show again. Thanks for the information; now I know why I don't watch this show and never will. I have been a fan of a few tv shows but I can't tolerant ignorance of this sort and have given up watching shows for this very reason. Maybe if we call tuned this type of show out the writers would start producing something of quality. Does anyone else feel this way?

Oh - there are way worse things that have been said on Family Guy! I actually thought that whole scene was pretty funny. It's family guy - that sort of thing is to be expected. You can't take it too seriously...

My younger brother watches this show, and I know that the show could be funny at times, but this one is just not acceptable. It makes other people think that it is OK to hurt another person just because you want to, especially when it is someone close to you. This is just taking it too far!

Domestic violence is never entertaining in my opinion, but Family Guy deliberately goes in for extreme material. Your right, it is supposed to be crude. Theres several things I've seen on the show that struck me as just a tad too far but Its not as if I'm taken by surprise by it, I know what the show is like and where the off button is - but I'd rather wife beating wasnt treated as a joke. I tend to think the writers are fishing for a reaction with this kind of storyline leaving you in a no win situation as far as letting or not letting it go.
