I love reading and I really spend a considerable time for this hobby of mine. However, I end up reading some books longer than the usual especially when I need to accomplish some paper works. Normally, it takes me at least three days to one week to read a novel depending on the number of pages. How about you? How long does it take you to finish reading a novel?

You will get a big laugh out of this but the only time I read is in the bathroom. I'm not big on reading so that's the only place I do it. Obviously it takes forever for me to finish a book!

It all depends on the type of book I'm reading and whether it captures my attention from the first page. Some books take me longer than others especially if I can't get into it from the beginning. I have read books in one sitting though!

I read very fast. If I set my mind to it I can finish a book in one day. I try not to do that though. I actually have to stop myself from reading so fast because then I finish and get bored!
If I am reading out loud it takes me a bit longer. I read a whole book to my husband while we were traveling from Mississippi back to New Jersey. It took me less than two days and the book was around 300 pages. My voice got a little scratchy after reading out loud for so long but it sure did make the trip gp by faster than usual!

I usually only read in bed so it depends on how quickly I get sleepy.
I'm a speed reader, though, and if is something I can really get into, I can read a novel in two days.

Depending on my workload from classes, it usually takes me from a day to a week to finish a book.

It usually takes me about a minute to read 2 pages. So your average 300 page book takes me about 2 1/2 hours. I've been a bookworm since the age of 3 though.

I read about 800-1000 words per minute so I can finish a book fairly quickly. I am a book aholic, but I usually only read at bedtime. So depending on how fast I get sleepy, I may only read 30-40 pages in one nite, others I can read 200-300 pages. I average 50-55 books per year. I have found myself expaning on my list of authors I like to read. It can be challenging to find new ones some times.

Before I had children and a family to look after I would read a book every couple of days, now I am lucky if I get to read a book every couple of months! Boy do I miss being able to read whenever I want, but I guess eventually as the family grows up and I start to get more time then I will be able to begin to read a lot again.

It takes me about the same time as you. Another determining factor is how good the book is. The better the book, the more time I spend reading it but the less days it takes to read it. If it is slowly moving along, I can put it down and often do which makes me take longer to read it. Also, with a site like this, I am spending good reading time chatting with all of you! You guys keep a lot of my down time occupied!
I have read books with 400 pages or more in 2 days (usually over a weekend). But, those books were real thrillers. Most Dean Koontz books are like that for me. But, most of his books are around 300 pages long too and are so mind bendingly interesting that I can't put them down and that is when I finish them in 2 days.
I am reading Duma Key by Stephen King right now and it is taking some time. It is moving a little slow. Don't get me wrong. It is interesting but, I am hoping it will really start to pick up soon so I can have my "can't put it down" and finish it soon!

Well, with me its like this. I was halfway through a 600 page novel and went and borrowed 2 books from the library that I couldn't resist. The library allows you 3 weeks to return books. So I set my self a target. Finish all 3 books before the return date for the 2 from the library gets here. This Sunday gone ( yesterday ) I finished the 600 page guy, am almost halfway through the 400 page guy and already read 1 chapter of novel no. 3. I'm kind of proud of this. You don't lose enjoyment and get a sense of achievement when you do this. I read 2 books at a time anyway and you don't forget anything or confuse them either.

It doesn't take me too long to finish a novel if I have time to read it. I usually read pretty fast, but lately I read a few minutes a day and it takes me a week or so to finish a novel.

Well I get to reading as it depends on the book. For example, my last read was Message In A Bottle by Nicholas Sparks and it took me a month before I had finished it. I think I started January and just finished it last dawn around 3 AM. I finished it quite slowly due to a lot of submissions for various subjects in school.
But on the other hand, I could finish up a book in a week probably 2 days that is if I don't have any other things to do. This vacation I am looking forward to read a lot of books from my personal library. I hope to lessen them all so that I could give some away to make way for new books to read!

Depends on how big the novel is -
an Alistair Maclean novel I can read in a couple of hours if I am not interupted
a Tom Clancy novel maybe 6 or 7 hours

Depending on the number of pages, usually no longer than one week.
I am a collector of second hand books.
I collect 12 authors.
Six males and six females.
I try to get all their works.
I have succeeded in getting all 46 of Taylor Caldwell.
With the others I have a long way to go.
Thus I have a backlog of about 500 books waiting their turn.
Jean Plaidy and her other two names, Philippa Carr
and Virginia Holt , this person is so prolific
that I cannot see me completing the collection before I die.

I like to read, though I rarely read novels any more, most books I can finish in a day or so, but I have been know to read a whole book in one sitting as well if it captures me.My love of reading started when I was very young, I remember one summer vacation I read every book in our house. Today, a day does not go by thatI don't read about something whether it is here or the paper, or what ever.
