Does anyone do Data Entry online?

I can type. I've been a touch-typist since I was five. Data Entry is a breeze for me. But when I look for work-at-home Data Entry opps, you have to pay on average $50 to join a membership database that would give you a list of companies who provide that sort of work. This seems like a total scam to me, seeing as how there are a bunch of these exact same type of sites. They're databases might hold 10,000+ company names, but how many of those companies offer steady Data Entry work for a decent rate? Does anyone have any real experience with these sites? Or do you know of any place where one can find Data Entry work at home WITHOUT having to fork over money first? -Tink

Have you considered posting flyers and making up business cards and placing them around your local town? Also you could call local businesses and see if they send out typing, businesses are going to this more and more to save on costs of providing employee's with benefits and such. I do a lot online but not data entry. Check out my profile page and website and blog (accessed through my website) for more great ideas.

I used to do typesetting from home (mostly newsletters), back in the dark ages, before everyone and his dog got a computer and decided they could do it for themselves. I'd love to do data entry from home, too. Here's to the both of us actually finding paying work.

I think these days, data entry assignment is getting lesser than ever. If there is any, it will not be home-based likely. Yes, i agree also that those paid membership database seems like a scam to me as well.
