Flor(Paz Vega)and her daughter Cristina, move to L.A. from Mexico in search of a life upgrade. Finding employment, courtesy of John and Deborah Clasky, white collar rich folks. She becomes their housekeeper. Flor must then battle with the language barrier, Cristina entering womanhood, and the Clasky's eccentric form of life. Spanglish has a terrific cast in Adam Sandler, Tea Leoni, Paz Vega. Each of them is sturdy in delivering comedic, as well as dramatic performances. Sandler is vehement as the emotional head of the house. Leoni plays nutty, in a fantastic way.. and is funny as a compulsive energetic wife. Vega is most remarkable, being able to accurately show the real frustration, when it comes to language barriers. The only downfall, of this film, is the way it loses its vigor in many segments. The pacing feels dragged out and makes the 131 min of running time, feel longer. Besides that, it analyzes greatly, the transplanting from one country to another, and the dilemmas that accompany it. In very funny forms, it displays the hidden humor of "Culture Shock Frustration". Did you like "Spanglish"?

This was a TERRIFIC film!!! I loved it. It's got to be one of the Top 20 films in my humble opinion. The acting was great by all parties involved, the movie made me cry, laugh, and feel entertained throughout. It was a complete movie. Not too many movies nowadays can make you feel so many emotions in a 2-hour period. Ladies and Gents, I felt all five senses plus some more when I watched this movie. And everytime I watch it on DVD, I still get those emotions running through my veins! What a great movie! I was never an Adam Sandler fan before this movie. I didn't like his slapstick comedy style. This made me a convert. He made me a believer in his acting abilities. Tea Leoni was fabulous in her role as a psycho compulsive wife. I loved Cloris Leachman as the drunk mother who finally made sense in the end. The actress who played Vega's daughter in the film was definitely a good element in the film. Spanglish definitely had a lot of funny scenes and slices of life moments. It kept me hooked from the first scene to the final credits. Anyone will find something in this movie they can relate to. Overall, I loved the movie and will buy it on Blue Ray because I know my DVD version will probably go the way of the BetaMax or VHS, out the trash. And I don't think I can ever have a film collection without Spanglish!
