Bigotry is About More than Just Race

"The rich" and "The poor" are both made up of people. Neither group can be summed up by any simplistic statement. To do so would be bigotry. Why is it ok to despise "the rich"? Why is it ok to pity "the poor"? Why do we only respect the one we feel sorry for? There is no difference between lumping all "the rich" or "the poor" together and lumping "the Blacks" or "the Jews" or "the Mormons" together. People are poor, people are rich, people are middle class. Each only describes their income bracket, not the people in it.

One group has more, thus making some feel as if they are less; the other group has less, thus making some feel as if they are more. It's insidious either way.

Yup, it's all about jealousy and prejudice than fact.

This is nothing more than class warfare instigated by the liberals in a desperate attempt to gain votes. Since the republicans and conservatives are considered to support business, the liberals try to make business and rich people out to be the enemy to the working class. This is so that the liberals can make it look like that they support the poor and otherwise disenfranchised in an attempt to garner votes. The reality is that there are as many rich liberals in Congress as there are rich conservatives, so their whole platform is nothing more than a lie. Everything they do is so that they can stay in power, because they actually believe that they are best qualified, and they don't care about what lies they have to tell or what damage they do to the country in the process. The liberals play on emotions, and for that to work there has to be a victim. In this case the poor and middle class are the victims and the rich are evil. It is as simple as that.

I love the last line in your discussion as it is so true.I do not pity the rich or feel sorry for the poor.Comparing a poor person in North America to a poor person in India is comparing apples to oranges. We then have to redefine the definition of poor.Same problem with the defintion of "rich".I do feel sad for those who starve thru government policies or problems.I believe we all deserve the chance to be self-reliant,but that it is a pipe dream. By the way...I thought it was survival of the fittest....not the richest.

I suppose I despise the rich because they get money for nothing. I've seen so many rants about people on benefits but nobody has a go at the children of rich parents, who are obscenely rich without doing a shred of work, even their parents have done no work in a lot of cases. Also rich people get richer by fiddling their tax, destroying other peoples lifes and the environment.

Now you stereotype me. Did I say I hate the poor? Did I say anything against any financial class? NO! You hate people based on your myopic preconceived notions. Then you try to paint me with your own bigoted brush. Rise above your hate and learn that people aren't defined by the money they have, or don't have. Unless you enjoy your bigotry, then put on a sheet like the rest of them.

How does it feel then? since you hate the poor. I simply pointed out the imbalance in today's society, where poor people are continually portrayed as being parasites, when rich people are just as bad.
