Should bans match injury lay-off

Should a player committing a serious foul be banned from playing until the player he fouled has returned to fitness?

Depends on if it was with intent and if it was the player should be banned for life. There are still too many needless injuries in football and players need to know that deliberately injuring another player will result in a lifetime ban, as there have been players who haven't been able to continue their career after being injured.
