I have nick names for some of my Grand-children, My Husband, I even have a Nick Name. Did you name your Sweet-heart or Spouse? Children, Friends, People have funny nick Names. Name some of the Nicknames in your Family. Or even Friends or Family? My Grand-daughter name is Dida, she hates that name but that is what I call her.

I haven't nick named any of my grandchildren, or my kids either. I do have one for my brother, and he has one for me. He calls me sis-T-ugler (or sis T) and I call him brugly-udder (or brugly.) Don't get me wrong, these are loving nicknames, and not hateful. The udder part is because we grew up on a dairy farm milking cows lol. My Dad used to call me Tish, and sometimes jokingly called me scar (because I was always skinning my knees on my bike.) People at work couldn't pronounce my last name (which was a mouthful of German syllables) so many of them called me zikki. Some friends call me zeke, and have since the 60's...also because of my last name. When I was with visiting nurse doing hospice, many of the patients used to call me angel. I guess I have a lot of different nicknames depending on who I'm with at the time, and I answer to them all with a smile.

When my grandson, whose real name is Todd after his dad, was real small everyone started calling him "Bug". I'm really not sure why but it really stuck. Then when his little sister Angela was born she immediately became "Sissy" - at least that makes sense, right? However, after "Bug" started playing Midget Football and Little League he told us, and I quote, "I'd prefer not to be called Bug anymore." My husband had the hardest time breaking the habit; at a baseball game he yelled out "Come on Bug, keep your eye on the ball." Seconds later a few other fans were yelling the same thing...OOPS! Angela doesn't really like being called "Sissy" that much anymore but we all still do from time to time but I'm real careful about calling Bug Todd, especially in front of his friends. He's 13 now, after all.

I love to give people nicknames. I prefer that they like them, but it is not necessary. When I was a little girl, my nickname was Dee Dee. This was because my mom and I had the same name. After my mom passed away when I was ten, most of my family started calling me Rosie, but at least one cousin still calls me Dee Dee.
I recently gave a friend of mine the nickname Lokey. She is never complains or says much or anything. She is just around doing her thing. She doesn't bother anyone and pretty much only talks to me. So I felt that was the perfect nickname.
I have a niece name Mia and we have called her Me Me all her life, so calling her Mia is strange to me. Then I have a niece name Shelena. Her brother nicknamed her Nina, when he could not say Shelena and that nickname stuck.
When she was younger, I started calling her non non because she was always acting up. I am the only one who calls her that. The guy that I lived with for nine years was Yogi Bear and I was Boo Boo. They also called him Big Mac.

Okay, let's talk nicknames!
I have one daughter, my youngest, that we always call her "little sis"! So the name kind of stuck, and we wound up calling her "sissy"!
My oldest stepson, came with the nickname "bubba", which is pretty common down here in the south! So everybody calls him "bubba"!
My oldest son is a junior, so we nicknamed him "uni",!
My oldest stepdaughter's name is Amanda, so we shortened her name to "mimi"!
I have one little grandaughter, named Desiray, but the other little kids have trouble saying her name, and they wind up saying "ray ray", so it kind of stuck as a nickname!

I have few nicknames too. My family and relatives has a nickname for me. In school, I am called a different name. Some of my closest friend also call me another name. So if someone would call me a certain name, I associate it with their relationship to me. The funny thing is, depending on the circle, they are not very much aware that I am also being called those names.

Many years ago my Da gave me the nickname Gyspy because I was always on the go..He said I should have had a caravan to wander with and to this day many of my old hippy friends still call me Gyspy..I kind of like it because it reminds me of my Da and I miss him so much.
