Can you solve this problem? the sum of two numbers is 77 and thier difference is 17. Find the numbers.

Your question is a simultaneous equation one. If the 2 nos. are x and y respectively, then
1. x+y=77
2. x-y=17
3. x+y-(x-y)=77-17=60
4. x+y-x+y=60
5. 2y=60, then
6. y=60/2=30
Substituting for 1. above,
7. x+30=77, then x=77-30=47
Summary: The numbers are 30 and 47, respectively.
