Any Realtors out there?

I have noticed not many realtors out there in this forum. I was hoping to brainstorm with some of you and see what is done in other areas to generate activity to maintain business. Do you do open houses? Do you do newsletters? Do you do mailings? Websites? I am holding my own so far, but would love to jump over that hurdle and be able to hire an assistant and really soar above the crowd! What say you? Hae a good day!

I was a licensed Realtor a few years ago. I got out of it when I moved to a different state. I enjoyed it, but I was not making enough money at it to support myself and my son. I lived in a fairly small area that had a ton of Realtors and not enough of a market for anyone except the well established Realtors to be making good money.

I really like doing this and like to brainstorm with other realtors. Most have very guarded secrets for their success though. Did you do open houses, newsletters, flyers, etc? What did your broker suggest to move your business forward?

I did several open houses and I even did a few open houses for other Realtors listings. I worked for Coldwell Banker and they had a lot of materials available to all the Realtors in the office. I would make up some packets of helpful information for FSBO's and drop them off to them. The association in the area I worked did a cool house tour thing every week. A bunch of the different agencies in the area would open up their new listings just to other Realtors during the day on Wednesdays and the Realtors would all go around to the houses and get a look at them, so they would really be able to tell their buyers about a home since they had actually been in them.
