What gift should a parent give his teenage child on his birthday.

According to you what is the ideal gift a parent should give his teenage child.
I myself thought about it but came to no solution.
A cellphone, a pair of shoes, throw a party, perhaps a vehicle or something else.

We just give the kids money for their birthday and take them to the mall then out for either lunch or dinner...My son will be 15 this yr and my daughter is turning 13 in May...they both would much rather get money on their birthdays than gifts...
