Recently my friend came back from a short visit to the United of Arab Emirates. She said a lot about how beatiful and rich and myterious is the country.Besides, she told us there you don't need to worry about your purse,no one would steal it.Because once a thief is caught, one of his hand will be cut down! What do you think of the policy?Extreme?lack of human right?Violent?or Effective? What's your opinion?

I think this is very extreme and i think it fringes what is acceptable in human rights. It is a very severe punishment indeed to cut a thieves hand off. I think it shows that violence can be employed rather than locking the thief in jail he will get treatment to ensure he will never commit such a crime again. It is relaxing for tourists and local people to know that their purse or wallet is safe. However who is to say that he person did steal the purse? Once his hand has been cut off they can't stick it on again if they found someone else stole it. Sometimes in countries like the UK new evidence proves someone in jail didn't commit the crime and they can be let out. In the past some people were hung and then they found out oh my he is didn't do it. So it is effective, violent and extreme. I have been to Singapore and it has some very strict rules. The people there tend not to misbehave and I guess that the people that live in the United Arab Emirates are well behaved too.

Even it's effective,I have to admit it's kinda extreme, especially when there're mistakes. That people there behave themselves not only because of law, also religion.

Well of course it's extreme. It seems to be effective as well. Fear is an effective tool. If you knew punishment was loss of limb, it may make you rethink doing the crime. Some differences between other cultures can be scary.

Just as what I had said,no worry about being stolen. But maybe extreme.Every coin, two sides. That's what you choose ~
