Pfizer Pulls Ads by Doctor: Revisited

I did a discussion awhile back on the ethical aspects of doctors who promote prescription drugs in TV ads. I specifically mentioned a certain ad for a cholesterol-reducing drug by a doctor who invented an artificial heart. I see in this morning's headlines that the company, Pfizer, has pulled these ads with an admission that they were misleading. The fact was even brought up that a stunt double was used in one of the outdoors scenes this doctor was in. I call this a step in the right direction. How do you myLotters feel about this?

I think tv stations should also be held responisible for what they show on their stations.

They't care, winterose, because they are in the business to make money.

I think it is a step in the right direction, although I think companies are like politicians, they tell you what you want to hear. It doesn't matter if it is the truth or not.

You are so right, Thoroughrob, but they have to bow to pressure when it is put on by the government.

Well its the right step taken but there is nothing harm to promote things which are right in medical unless and until you are misleading people in order to fill your own pockets. If they are helping people then there is no harm in it. Because medical is created to save people life and not to destroy them.
Thanks for reading my response.
Goodbye

I think that is great. about time this was done. reminds me of Avandia andhow my doctor claimed my problems were not due to my taking Avandia for my diabetes control. Now the side effects come out, heart problems. swelling and weight gain.boneloss. anemia.okay while on avandia I gained forty pounds in ten days. became anemic. then I fell and broke my shoulder so badly I had to have shoulder joint replacement. while in the hospital I refused to take avandia any longer. thus almost overnight I lost forty pounds. Now I have learned that studies have shown that Avandia has caused bone loss resulting in fractures. and my doctor had denied all this!!
