I like a song mostly for its good melody. But lately I have developed a liking for meaningful lyrics as well. Some songs have both-good words and music and I just love them. What do you like in a song? Why do you like a particular song? which one's your most favourite.

For me it has always been the music first. I am not into melodies. I want music which makes me want to get up and dance. I only pay attention to the words when there is a message in the song... or a strong statement... which a can relate to.

Yes, I completely agree with you that if the lyrics of the song is not good, it will fade away soon. But if the lyrics and music both are catch, the song will have longer shelf life and you would love to listen to that song again and again. I also prefer to listen to those songs which have good lyrics, instead of Good Music or say catch music only. You can sing a song, until and unless its lyrics are meaningful. I prefer listening to old songs, which used to have excellent lyrics. Now a days you would find that number of good lyricist have reduced considerably. A lyricisit writes song, just to fill the gap in music, he does not remain concerned with the meaningfulness of the song. Good Post! how are you? How are your studies going on? Have a great day! I like both. A melody of a song would determine my mood and the words would add up to my emotions. I love music!!

I always listen to the lyrics first. I love words. I love the emotions that can be created by someone successfully stringing together words the right way. The melody matters a little but the words get me every time.

For me the words of a song will be the determining factor, if I like it or not. The song has to be meaningful, and something I can relate to.

i get inspired by the tune. i mostly listen to classical music but that started at university. a song's lyrics and melody should compliment each other. my favourite song is Dolphins Cry by Live.
