about the fourth hokage

i remember something from the first episode of naruto. kyuubi attacking konoha, and some brave ninja fending off kyuubi until the fourth arrives. i was wondering, why was the fourth late? he had hiraishin, so i think he doesn't have an excuse.

It's not easy to give your life to achieve something...besides the Kyuubi had barely reached the village and they had to show that all the Ninjas were doing their part and not just sitting idle whilst the 4th thought up of a way. I am certain that if there was an alternate way of killing/sealing it he must have thought about it...but as Jiraiya says the 4th must have had an ulterior in sealing the Kyuubi into his own son.

I hear you. I think there's something about Mary, I mean Naruto that makes him the "perfect" container for Kyuubi.

the fourth has a big responsibility, maybe he let his people hide in a safer place before he fight the kyuubi. or probably they are arguing on sealing the kyuubi in the human's body.
