I like to go out for the day to a place within a couple of hours from my home. Today I went to Cheddar, a historical little town with caves and a gorge. There is a fast moving river running through it with some waterfalls and rapids. I went to a crystal museum and saw some gorgeous looking crystals and gem stones. It was an interesting and enjoyable day out.
Do you like to go out for the day?
If yes what sort of places do you like to go to?
Which is the most enjoyable day trip that you have been on?
Thanks.

Oh wow! You are so lucky living so closeby. I love Cheddar, and yes, I like to go out for the day. I like to visit historic towns and megalithic sites, like Wells, Glastonbury and of course, the great Stonehenge. Stonhenge and Avebury are the two closest sites to me, but there is Silbury Hill, Kennets Longbarrow, and Wayland's Smithy, also not too far away. I find those places so spiritual and peaceful.
I used to holiday in Minehead, or Linton/Lynmouth every year, and travel about the North Devon, and North Somerset places, and once, I came to your home town. :) I enjoyed it there. I sat on the pier and watched the tide come in... it must have taken all of half an hour. lol.
Brightest Blessings.

I took a day trip to Avebury Stone Circle last year and had a wonderful time. I go to Wells and Glastonbury quite often. Yes, I am lucky to live to near to such lovely places. You live near some peaceful and spiritual places too. I would really like to go to Stonehenge one day. Have a great day and best wishes.

Avebury really is lovely, isn't it? So spiritual too... I could make God and Goddess shapes out of most of the stones, and one even looks like a lion. :) Do you think I drifted off back into ancient times? Then, I noticed how sheep huddled in groups of between three and five, close to the base of some of the stones, and when I looked up at the stone, it was like they were sheltering beneath the skirts of a Goddess. I love the little pub there too. :)
You really must try to get to Stonehenge sometime. It's very commercialised now but if you attend one of the solstices, they allow you close up to the stones between 10 o'clock on the eve, just after celebrations have begun, and 9 o'clock in the morning. That's an experience worth enjoying. It's not far if you can join the A303; it's only a few miles outside the Somerset border line, and so worth the travelling. I found a video on YouTube about it... a couple of guys walking in from a surrounding field, and explaining everything. I'll have to try and look it out for you.
Brightest Blessings my friend.

This winter has been very mild which means lovely sunny dry days, so I wrap up warm and go for a nice long walk, I love walking, trouble is my feet don't, so I have to tend to them afterwards but now I've invested in better shoes I can do the walking. I love walking in the countryside, the fresh air, and appreciating nature. I love watching the birds and will stand a watch them. I usually like to take a book with me so when I find a nice bench I will stop and read. Sometimes I will go out for a drive because driving for me is very therapeutic. I like to drive to parks to watch the wildlife and I love wide open spaces. When it gets warmer I love driving down to the Ocean, nothing like sea air to get you vitalized

Yes, this winter has been delightfully mild and today I took a walk on Weston Pier and it was really sunny for this time of the year. In my locality many daffodils have bloomed which makes me remember spring is not faraway. I like to take long walks in the countryside and along the seashore. I agree that the ocean is quite refreshing and revitalizing.

Some places like that are very far from my place, so I'm most likely out with my friends on their place or either on malls which happens to be a minute trip from my home.
When I get bored at afternoons, I go outside and play some basketball. I'll just take some walk, since it's just a few blocks away from my home. =)

I like day trips too. Now and then weather permitting, we go as a family to a museum, or take a walk down The Mall and around the Washington Monument, sometimes even just to the park which is about 20 minutes from where we live. There is a bike trail and even though the view isn't all that, it's nice to see others that are walking, cycling, skating and sorts along the track.

I love going on day trips! We do this frequently. Sometimes we just get in the car and drive, not knowing where we will end up until we get there. This is how we found Cape May, NJ.
We have also gone to explore New York City and Philadephia.
While we were in Maryland for almost a month, we took two different day trips to Washington DC.
While we were in Mississippi we would take day trips to New Orleans. We just did this on Valentine's Day. We had cafe au lait and beignets at my favorite place, Cafe du Monde. The weather down there was beautiful and perfect.
I can't for the weather to warm up, these things are so much more fun when it is not cold outside!

There is a bird sanctuary very near where I live that has a tower that is almost two stories high that you can climb. From the top you can see into a couple of osprey nests and watch the babies as they grow from very ugly newborns to wonderful flyers.
Right now there are eggs in the one nest and soon there will be in the other too. Mom an Dad are very busy making it just right for the soon to be.
In a month or so it will get a little dicey getting to the tower, because the gators will be in the mating mood too. When this happens, they will be all over the place. and it is very dangerous to walk the path to the tower. It also gets extremely noisey as the deep throated mateing sounds bellow throughout the sanctuary. I have seen gators over 12 feet long right in the middle of the road that leads into the place. Needles to say I left. They can take a bite out of a large tire with no effort.lol

Thanks for your excellent description of the bird sanctuary that is near to where you live. I think it is wonderful to see birds nesting. I really like climbing tall towers and getting a great view. The largest bird I have ever seen was the albatross in a place in New Zealand.

Well everyone likes to go out someday. It helps them relieve there pressure. I also like to go out. The places I like for outing are surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lush green earth. Where you can touch sky with your own hands. There is place called "Vaishno Devi" its a religious place. It makes me feel out of the world. You should also someday visit this place.
Thanks for reading my response.
Goodbye

that sounds totally lovely. unfortunately there isn't' much around my country to make day trips to. and it's been a while since I went somewhere just for the day on impulse.
i did got to vietnam recently but it was a holiday long in the planning because air tickets were involved. i miss having the flexibility of driving a few hours to somewhere totally different and getting new experiences!

there's a university near my house, and the university has a lake in it, there's so many trees and flowers aroud the lake. At the weekend, i usually go to there for a walk, and sometimes with my girlfriend. Breathing the freshair with your lover in your hand ,it's so cozy.

The weather today is cloudy with a bit rain. Not the best time to go out. But when in perfect weather, I enjoy walking around the university, watching people.
I would say that the most enjoyable trip I've been on was when I went to Sagada with my friends. We went to explore waterfalls that is inside a cave.

I have been in a few caves, so I would have found the caves you saw very interesting. I especially love to see pretty gorges. We have many beautiful gorges in the Flinders Ranges.
For a days outing, I always like to visit the Zoo. It takes a whole day to get there & walk around the enclosures. Adelaide zoo is excellent. Soon we are getting two panda bears on loan from China. Hopefully that will be my next days outing.

Hello maximax8,
It's been long that we have had a conversation! How's your child doing?
It's always refreshing to have timeout to some place for a day. I usually do it with my group of friends here. There are lots of historical places in and around my city here, I have seen most of them. For a day out, it is usually another city, beaches, resorts, ancient castles or just a ride on boat. I love to enjoy what nature, life and history has to offer!:-)
