i just wanted to know how you see filipinos? one dictionary of one country describe filipinos as overseas filipino workers. well that would be fine but this is the worst description ive ever heard. they called us maids because that is what most filipinos do to earn a living. they leave their families just so they can provide food, clothing and shelter to the loves they have left behind... to you, how would you really describe us? are we just somewhat like maids to you or someone very different..

The Filipino are amazing people, they are pure in heart, I had the privilege to have a gentleman from Manila as a friend years gone by-his human nature was comparable to none-he was selfless, kind and mixed freely with people of all walks of life-he had a fiancee who came to visit him in Kampala, my city and to this day, I have it in my mind that Filipinos have the most beautiful women in the world! As for this derisive view that Filipinos are maids-that can be pushed aside and ignored-it is a foolish generalization-it is like sayng all Africans are foolish or poor, and you skbh12 know, that is not entirely true, so in the same light, there may be some people because of the objective economic situation in Philipines, are doing domestic work for a living I agree, but it is completely B... Sh.t to say all Filipinos are maids-we have many intellectual out in the philipines, computer experts, lawyers, Doctors and Engineers, can they all be considered Maids? It just cant be, so dont let anybody distruct you from being a Partriotic Filipino.

Matibay! thats what I can say about the filipino people.. We always face the day with hope and we have the family values. We love our family with respect and we really spend more time with a fmaily gathering.. we honour our parents and give them the respect they need..

Based on my experiences while i'm studying in the phil, i found that filipinos love to sing and dance, people usually go to karaoke if they hang out with friends and family. They do enjoy to go to karaoke even spend much money and sing without feeling shy even some have bad voices. They really pork lovers, salty and sour dishes, and barbeque. Wherever i go in Davao city, there are always so many carenderia, restaurants, with almost the same menu... with pork!!! I do observe that Filipino loves to eat something with "suka" and toyo. We, indonesian, prefer to eat hot and spicy food and i prefer sweet sauce than toyo-salty sauce. Its so not always to find restaurant with chili sauce or even chili red. Hmmmm... some filipinos are friendly, but some are not. Some even avoid to talk with foreigners because shy and dont want to talk english even they can. Some are really nice and helpful, even some like to borrow money. I dont think that filipinos like maids, maybe its because philippines has higher rate exporting workers to abroad. All i know that philippines has "brain drained" prob, since many professionals leave their country to get higher salary and better job.

"professionals leave their country to get higher salary and better job." haha!! im guilty of this because i am one of those filipinas who has plan of leaving for the USA to work as a nurse. on my opinion, you cant blame nurses who leaves the country for abroad just so we can earn big because here in the Philippines? an earning of 4000 pesos every 2 weeks doesnt really help.. if i became a doctor then i may not have any reason to leave the country but as a nurse we dont get paid a lot. we have so much better opportunities abroad. i just plan to leave and work there for like 5 years maybe. i would like to settle here in the Philippines as long as my earnings would reach the satisfied amount where i can raise my kids here in my country without me worrying too much regarding with the financial status. of course i still love my country even if there are too much corruption and coup's going on... i will never exchange my country for anything else..

I think Filipinos are very lovely. I (actually "we", since she came to visit our organization) met a Filipino many years ago. We had a great time with her, and only one hour after she came, all of us give her a nice nickname: mother.

They are compassionate and recognized to have competitive talents. We ought to seek betterness and alternatives just to stay sound. Though often misunderstood, we can't blame those people from other races described us like what you said, coz it's a reality that emerged because of some unpure filipinos who became opportunists to take over and benefited from greed.
