I was raised as a Catholic. But with all of the religions out there today, how can anyone be sure that theirs' is "the" religion? How can anyone say that their god is the ultimate creator? Who is right? I personally don't believe in religion. Too many bad things come from religion and beliefs. I prefer to believe in myself. I believe in my inner strength and will. I believe that I can make things better. Let's face it, religion is just a belief. There is no proof of anyone's god. Religion is a joke. Just look at scientology. People nowadays are just looking for something to believe in to make themselves feel better because they are incapable of doing it themselves. There is no strength to that. It cracks me up that "religious" people are the liars, cheats, theives and killers, etc. of the world and we all know that. And how about those miracles? There is tornado that wipes out an entire neighborhood and people say it is a miracle that they weren't killed. Wouldn't it have been a miracle if the tornado didn't cause the damage in the first place? Not left people devestated with nothing? For what? To show they can rebuild? Do I need to go into babies dying or having diseases? What purpose does a god have for them? He wants them to be with him? What a crock... I'm sure there will be comments. I hope you can be objective. Also, please keep in mind that I have no problem at all with people that worship their religion according to how it is suppose to. I can go on and on but will leave it here.

God is there. Religion is only the way people make relationship with Him. I think the most important is spirituality. Spirituality is how we are associated to God personally.

I would tend to believe that but unfortunately, if people were in it for spirituality, they wouldn't be handing over there money to the many different religions. Do you have any idea how much money is collected by religions each year? Spirituality should have a price tag on it!

I totally disagree with you DJfroKI.
According to you too many bad things come from religion and belief. To me I see it the other way round. Religion is the path that mankind still around and live in harmony up to this day. For your information I live in a muslim country but religion that hold us and keep us in unity. In other word, we respect the practise of other believers. Before the spreading of religion (Christianity) to my country in the early 30's, 40,s and 50's our great grandparent were the headhunters and they were cannibal. Now that most of us are Catholic, we stop all those for it is against the religion. So you can imagine if Christinity were not introduced to my country. You were a Catholic and I believe the teaching of the Catholic is based from the Bible and I cannot find that God's word encourage us to do bad as you said.
Once again your statement contradict to the reality that religious people are the liars, cheats, theives and killers etc. Are you sure that's the case? No, not in many country in the world. Most killers, murderous, liars etc are those who do not believe in God or who have shallow knowledge of their religion. To proof my point, you visit the local prison and you will know that most of the inmates are free thinker. Take for instance, the muslim that are willing to kill themselves in the name of the religion. They believed that 7 virgins are waiting for them in Heaven if they kill the non-muslim but according to the iman in my country that is against the true teaching of Islam and they have shallow knowledge of Islam.
I raise my case. In my country many miracles happened and recently God's family (Jesus and Mother Mary)appeared in a village and until today pilgrims and non-belivers flock to that village to witness the appearance of Jesus and Mary. Some even managed to take Jesus and Mary images by using handphone camera or digital camera. It depend on your faith actually because out of 10 people taking the pictures only 1 or 2 people with the images. However everybody can take the picture of the 'cross" which is not visible with naked eye. It appears on a palm tree and the muslims tried to kill the tree but failed. Now some of them even convert to Catholic. What can you say, MIRACLE.....

Thank you for your reply. I think that you are proving my piont. There are many that don't even know their religion enough and they don't follow it. But why religion? Why can't you believe in yourself for strength? I do and it is great. If in your country you are seeing Jesus and Mary, does that mean that all other religions are finally proven wrong now? Everyone believing in their religion for so long were wrong. Again, it is just a belief. You used the word miracle. I don't care which religion or God you believe in but wouldn't it be a miracle (if we are created by one God) that there was no violence, disease, destruction, hunger, etc? If God created everything and everyone, why did he have your people eating each other? How can any god let children have life ending diseases? Let wars happen where innocent people are killed? This is what I'm talking about. If you look in America today, there is an election going on and people care about what religion each candidate is? Why? I'm just tired of hearing about religion. But again, I don't mind at all that people want to believe in their religion and follow it. I just don't know why.

I am not sure that theirs any RIGHT religion, although I believe in Jesus Christ and belong to the UCC. I do, however, believe that good folks of all faiths go to Heaven.
I believe that suffering exists to teach others to be kind to those less fortunate. That's why I think my friend is transgendered and I'm in a wheelchair. We're example of people that people that people need to accomodate and be kind to, as religions (good religions anyway) teaches us to do
