I started to fed my baby when she was 5 months old. I first introduce to her cerelac. I just mix 1 tablespoon of cerelac to water. Since it will be the first time for her to eat solids. I always fed her after she has drink her milk. I do that routine for 1 week. Then I increase her feeding after a week.
According to my baby's pedia, moms can start to feed their baby when your baby shows interest on food, when he/she can sit down with a little support, when the baby has double her birth weight and when she decrease spit ups during drinking her milk.
I was also advised by my pedia to introduce food to my baby with atleast 3-5 days interval to see if the baby has allergies on the food.

I first feed my baby solid food when she reached the 6th month... that was upon the advise of her pediatrician... and i remember feeding her her first rice cereal and i alternated it with wheat cereal the next day...
I think you can do that with your baby... there are a lot of good baby food in supermarkets... and you can also use mashed potatoes and carrots afterwards... don't forget to take a picture of your baby's first time at eating solid food...

Yes, you don't want to feed him solid food, until he has teeth!
The transition from liquid to solid food should be slow!
From liquid, you go just a little bit into the cereal, then you go to the baby food vegetables, then the baby food meats, and slowly you make the transition into the solid vegetables and meats!
