My wife keeps telling me to sit upright if I am watching television after a meal and not just plonk down or lie down. She is right I guess - but do any of you do the same. Do you lie down or take a nap or just sleep off after a meal? Is it unhealthy?

Hi pitstop! Yes, it is ofcourse unhealthy to sleep or lie down after meal. What happens is that the food you have just taken happens to remain undigested, which later on creates digestive problems (none of them are so serious, you get all right with them within a day...however, u feel too uneasy...) This is not the case with everybody though. some builds of digestive system are too strong so nothing happens to few of them. Even if you feel uneasy after the lunch or dinner, and want to lie down, you must lie down straight. So that the food passage and everything doesn't get blocked. And never ever lie down over your chest, since that cause pressure over your chest and heart, and you are sure to feel uneasy after that! Try to avoid naps after meals...atleast an hour of difference between meal and nap/sleep should be ther.

Hi ptstop,
To talk more scientifically it is better to go for a walk for about 15 minutes after your meal. This is more healthy if you are talking about dinner. If it is after lunch, you can have a nap for a little while which is again good for health.
Good Luck.
