Restless Leg Syndrome

February 27, 2008 7:05am CST
Does anyone else suffer from this at night? What are your tips and strategies for relief? Sometimes I get it so badly it feels like fire ants are crawling up and down inside my legs. One thing I do that helps temporarily is to clench and unclench my toes a few times. It provides temporary relief, sometimes long enough for me to be able to get to sleep. It's so frustrating. You have to move your legs to get any relief but it only lasts a few seconds and then it hits you harder than ever! It's like scratching mosquito bites! It doesn't help that both my cats like to sleep on my legs. I'll be lying there in agony, unable to kick my legs about because they're weighed down by sleeping kitties!

I do suffer with it along with my other conditions. I take very little pain med in the day but when I lay down my back and legs hurt so bad and RLS sure doesn't help..It's like having a bur in your socks when you already have poison ivy! The pain meds help the pain and the rls.. I have had to kick the cats off my bed because where they lay the pressure causes muscle spasms. oxxoxoxoxoo

I suffer from RLS off and on. My only solution is to take antihistamine, which makes me fall asleep regardless of what's going on. I think it helps relax all over and that includes whatever causes legs to feel that way.

I take anti-histamines daily for my various allergies. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help.
