Good:
The Four Daughters are integral portions that are developed and delivered well.
Bad:
It may very well leave you depressed because that is its essence.
Random Feelings:
"The Upside of Anger" is Directed & Written by:Mike Binder.
This film is about Terry Wolfmeyer. A shrewd, quick-witted, suburban wife, who is "outoftheblue" abandoned by her hubby, and is left to raise 4 daughters alone. Leads her to heavy drinking. Situation.. becomes interesting when she becomes attracted to Denny, a former pro-ballplayer. Now her daughters must deal with her incessant antipathetic loathing of her husband and her new lustful infatuation.
Upside of Anger is a wonderful film, perfect humor is shown.. out of painful situations. It reveals the turmoil of downheartedness, and shows the hidden humor, with out removing the depressive essence.
Story.. is well crafted and holds a whopper of an ending.
Acting is flawless as well. Joan Allen is superb in her delivery of a naggish mother, who dexterously makes transitions from joyful.. melancholy... to drunken belligerence.
End result.. is cinema delight.
Kevin Costner is a stellar counterpart, picking up right behind Allen. Creating a lovable loser, that makes no apologies for being emotionally ruptured.
Costner and Allen, equal perfect chemistry.
This film is outstanding, because of the raw emotional relationship between them.
This Film Dissects: Anger and Depression.

Very good.Just caught it this weekend and what a great surprise. It came on when I should have been in my second hour of sleep but kept my attention even through commercials. It had a true twist in the ending that made the entire movie quite thought provoking. What if all you thought and would have sworn to be true was wrong and you were mistaken? Now what if you couldn't take it back or reconcile your feeling? Then what? This move was based in betrayal( yet not true). I loved the quirkiness of the dynamics of the family of women and how they interacted with each other and the world around them. It was really an unexpectedly great performance by Kevin Costner showing a very real and gritty side. The relationships of this life and the work in progress that we all are made me enjoy it and think about my life. It dealt with rejection, depression, anger, and all points in between while showing pure joy, laughter, excitement, and trust. This was a movie that should be used as a lesson or class (graded) tool. Great work by all participants from the main characters to the supporting players. Great, great movie. Any one else and enjoy this in a world where flash, explosions, and body parts mean more than a story? I will not tell the ending...truly unexpected.

Yes, I loved it! It was an excellent movie and the acting was as good as it gets, in my opinion. It really was a surprise ending, wasn't it? Kevin Costner has always been one of my favorite actors and Joan Allen is one of the best actresses of our time and I think very underrated. She's been nominated several times for an Oscar and I hope one day she'll win.
